See also Peter Jackson's 'Forgotten Silver' mockumentary from 1995, which captures the look of antique archival footage so flawlessly that it led many to believe New Zealand aviation pioneer Richard Pearse achieved powered flight in early 1903, months before the Wright brothers.

LLMs are a blight on society, & sloppers should be pilloried & pelted with rotten fruit, veg, & eggs, but I wish people would stop claiming, as Wilson does here, that em-dashes are a 'tell' for AI prose. Bloke unironically uses three of the things in his own article. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

Someone used AI to create a book about me and sold it online
Cam Wilson, who is the ABC's AI reporter, recently discovered an AI-generated book about him and a book he wrote.

"Gallimaufry" probably doesn't get a lot of conversational love. On the other hand, I am a staunch advocate for "despoliation", and think it should get more use than it does

I think the thing with 'unusable' words is often going to be a blend of archaism and pronunciational inconvenience, and 'vehemence' certainly has the latter in spades. There are things that look fine on paper but once you've tried uttering them, you think 'no, not trying that again'

Fun fact: An 'opacifier' is a small biomedical device developed in 1763, to soothe and ensure the visibility of infants. However, modern babies are so seldom born with transparency that the original spelling is now seen as archaic, and many cheaper models now omit the important secondary function.

checking the lyrics, there probably isn't any good verse in that song with which to be starting that ad also if one is not paying close attention to exactly what is being said, that 'bucking the system too' near the end is quite the auditory double-take

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

80 hours of embroidery! This aerial landscape is directly inspired by Dartmoor and I'd say I have another 30-ish hours to go? I'm now starting to fill in the fields for the sheep, the tor area will be done last as I'm still deciding whether I want a slope or not 😅 I hope you like it! #art

The existence of the terms 'orthodox' and 'paradox' suggests a 1,3-disubstituted isomer 'metadox', the apparent nonexistence of which shows that each moiety is strongly deactivating towards derivatisation at the (3) position also, nonexistence is one more than octexistence, I don't make the rules
