Bob Harvie is the best choice for Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District | Endorsement
The Bucks County commissioner would bring some much-needed compassion to a Congress that has failed to uphold its sworn oath to support the Constitution and serve as a check on the executive branch.

I’m a sexual assault nurse examiner. Jane Doe’s texts from Cornell sound like what I hear in Philadelphia | Opinion
Two of the multiple ways survivors of sexual assault cope is by early normalizing and minimizing phases. But our systems tend to treat whatever a survivor says during these as the whole story.

"A moral obligation"

Rivas grew up in El Salvador during another tumultuous era. A military coup in 1979 led to a deadly decade-long civil war between the U.S.-backed Salvadoran government and a left-wing guerrilla group backed by Cuba.

Rivas decided to become a Catholic priest at age 27. He says the military viewed Catholic clergy who advocated for social justice and human rights as communists. He was detained, beaten and hospitalized, he says.

As they've made very clear in on the record interviews, they consider anyone who is a non-citizen, regardless of their actual legal status (working papers, student visa, refugee) to be a "criminal" because they are "here illegally" (even if they're following the law). So it's a meaningless claim.

Affordability discussions are mostly framed in a way that overlook impacts on the elderly. For example, we hear a lot about Trump's gas and diesel prices but not the projected 30-50% increase in heating oil prices. In PA, that will impact older housing stock, where many elderly folks live. 1/2
