This is not dooming or giving up, it's a genuine ask regarding strategy- Can Jefferies be replaced? Maybe, but not unless there's a credible replacement to coalesce around.

I can call my rep and demand they back someone else as leader post-midterms, but who could be a realistic enough challenger that they'd at least force a change in priorities for leadership even if we're stuck with this guy in the end?

As a voter, I've been demanding that my senators and representative replace current leaders with ones who have the will and appetite to fight and impose accountability. Any insights on who those prospective leaders might be?

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

Trump’s New Mouthpiece Cornered on Mysterious Legal Credentials
Katie Zacharia, the new White House press secretary, proclaims to be a lawyer, but she does not appear to actually be licensed to practice law in any U.S. state.

The legal environment our corrupt Supreme Court has created for this man is that he can do no wrong. But the political truth is that he can do no right. He has made himself illegitimate. That he remains in office despite this isn't evidence to the contrary, it's evidence of systemic political rot

This man started his term by selling control of the federal government to his richest donor. He then spent the remainder of his time wiping his ass with-never mind the constitution--the declaration of independence. There's no such thing as legitimate official acts from him as far as I'm concerned

I just don't care about any ~law enforcement~ story coming out of this administration because the idea of this man enforcing laws is preposterous on its face. We're talking about an arsonist doing fire code inspections. You're a sucker if you engage with any of it in good faith

Legislate, don’t impeach? “naïve to the point of delusion to think that Dems would have… a cooperative partner in the White House” But he won’t be removed? “not tenable to allow the president to run roughshod over rule of law… without meaningful, constitutional pushback” @jamellebouie.net is right

4. Dealers again. They don't want to service these cars, either, based on previous GM EV ownership and the service departments across multiple dealers only having one tech who can (is allowed to?) work on EVs. Will probably be buying whatever small Kia/Hyundai model makes it to the US.

Anecdotally, as a previous (multiple) Bolt owner who loved the cars and was in a market for a '27 but didn't: 1. Dealers. Chevy dealers don't want to sell EVs even more than they didn't want to 5-10 years ago. 2. They only brought back the longer version. 3. GM EVs don't have CarPlay any more.

Why are you waiting on anyone in this criminal administration to do the right thing instead of doing your job, demanding the House impeach, & then holding a trial in the Senate to remove? Really sick of people like you, with the power to at least try to do something, avoiding duty & responsibility.

Establish that violations of the Emoluments Clauses and the Establishment Clause are impeachable. Establish that war crimes are impeachable. None of these require the mens rea questions that so sidetracked the first two Trump impeachments. The facts are the facts.

such that the impeachment votes could be held seriatim on day one of a new Congress. There could be fifty different charges against Trump. Let the Senate try ' em all. Establish that violations of the War Powers Act, the Budget and Impoundment Act, or the Antideficiency Act are impeachable.

I'm not naive enough to actually believe this will happen, but Democrats could be preparing, right now, lists of impeachment charges against (at a bare minimum) Hegseth, Kennedy, Mullin, Patel, Blanche, & Trump, as well as Bondi, Bovino, & Noem (still worth doing!) that rely purely on public facts,

The best that can happen is that the issue is forced and Republicans in the Senate are forced to stand by trump and his cabinet on the record, REPEATEDLY. After a midterms wipeout, ones up for election soon are not going to have much of an appetite for answering for propping him up.

Why don't you impeach to get these scumbags out of office first, on all the straightforward, out in the open violations, and then follow up with investigations to roll up the co-conspirators and ensure they all face justice. You're wasting our time by ignoring your obligation to remove these people

Using the 14th also means it takes 2/3rds of both houses to keep anyone eligible if they gave "aid or comfort." Trump v. US ayes is a pretty straightforward claim, and there are several lower court judges whose behavior rises to that standard (cannon, for example.)

Don't even need impeachments for the worst actors, if Congress wants to apply the 14th amendment to decide that trump was never legitimately president, no trump 2 judge is actually appointed.

We don't even need to amend the Constitution to do that here! §3 of the 14th amendment is sufficient for the vast majority of these cases, and joining the administration of a man ineligible to hold the office in the first place (because of same) is straightforward enough "aid and comfort."
