I'm still processing the passing of Bob Davenport. I used to see him fairly regularly at the old Musical Traditions club in London. An extraordinary and compelling singer--the size, shape and impact of a hammer--perhaps because he was also a complicated and sometimes difficult person.

Years ago I lent a regularly touring folk punk band an accordion to try out for a bit. No case for it, so it lived in an old postman's delivery bag. They rang me up: they'd been burgled, took the accordion out of the bag, left it behind, used the bag to steal their VHS recorder :-)
