The 2026 Global Game Jam #GGJ26 was last weekend, so let's take a look at their historical data for engine usage. 📈 @godotengine.org is having a good run! #Godot is now firmly established as the #2 engine in game jams (correlated by #GMTKJam data), rapidly closing the gap with #Unity.

It mainly shows a relative decrease of the Unity share from nearly 80% to 57%, while Godot grew from 1.4% to over 25%. There's a notable inflexion point in the year-on-year growth from Godot in 2024.

imagine a game like zelda or something where, along the path of normal play, you can hit rocks you find scattered about the world to break them the very first rock you find in the game yields ammo or health or money or something when you break it no other rock in the entire game ever will

Freeze all physics objects, after storing their linear and angular velocity and set the global time multiplier to 0. The global multiplier - not the true time rate, as setting that value would break the unity UI system. Plus pausing animations and particles. Convoluted. 🫠
