Everyone's favorite F word: funding None of the Napa routes run later than 7pm, including the BART commuter route

The existing Napa Valley bus service is already arranged like a spine. The biggest hindrance is frequency (the bus largely runs once an hour)

Capitol does act as the arterial in the area, unfortunately. It's not a true "highway" in the sense that they still expect people to walk along it despite being grossly wide.

I mean Almaden has TOD and a regional park, and Oakridge connects to the mall. Unfortunately the TOD ridership wasn't enough to sustain service.

Walking is for losers.
A person appears to be floating horizontally above a city street with a busy sidewalk in the background. Large text above reads, "Floatmog all those walkcucks stuck on the ground!" Below the person, a magazine titled "Learn to Float" is displayed.

Sometimes I just like to wander around the Bay Area. Today I ended up at the Painted Ladies, and it was pretty cool to see all the gawking tourists

I found one of San Francisco’s undeclared streets. The City doesn’t recognize it as an official street but the postal service does.

The Napa Trancas Street post office genuinely caught my eye because I thought it looked really architecturally beautiful, but my attempts to look into it keeps bringing up articles about Napa's 1930s earthquake-damaged downtown art deco former post office instead :(
Really pleasing architecture of Napa's Trancas Street post office.

Nothing more frustrating than missing an entire light cycle because you weren’t fast enough to press the button and the light already turned green for motorists (I have elected to cross at my own peril than wait an extra 3 min more often than I’d like to admit…

It's always shocking to me how many people are apparently blackpilled on pedestrian call buttons, believing that they do nothing. I've come upon a group of 5 people all standing at a crosswalk and no one has pushed the button. Folks, most lights won't give you a walk phase unless you push it!

Sure, but a lot of growth is concentrated in developing counties. Does the US (and other developed, ageing countries with low fertility rates such as the East Asian counties and some European counties) have the political appetite to increase immigration to sustain the workforce?

1557's trip history is showing as having done another trip from Berkeley back to Oakland before finishing for the night so I'm inclined to believe the bus was either really late, early, or took an unannounced detour

Better than SacRT, also not letting you reload your Connect card at light rail stations (I think their system only has less than 20 locations across the region where you can even reload a card physically... many of which are transit customer service centers or city halls with limited hours)
000
Floofy Middle @floofymiddle.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
You can reload TAP cards at partner retailers like Ralphs, Pavillion etc with cash. I had to reload my card at the Westwood Ralphs once because I used up my fare but there wasn't a Metro rail station nearby. I believe I used cash? (This was 3 years ago) www.taptogo.net/TAPLocator2?...

Floofy Middle @floofymiddle.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Unfortunate to learn that accessing Tap machines is a problem for LA bus riders as well. Assuming reloading Tap cards at Ralphs/ other partner retailers doesn't adequately plug the coverage gap either? (Let alone people actually knowing that's even an option in the first place)

Floofy Middle @floofymiddle.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Primary reason given was no way to reload a Clipper card without going to a BART station, which can be far, and many may not have access to mobile Clipper. Which brings me to a second point of the insanity on how many major bus transit centers like Eastmont don't have Clipper reload machines.

Floofy Middle @floofymiddle.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Fwiw I read a report somewhere that cash riders on AC Transit were predominantly lower income and lived in places far from BART such as deep East Oakland, which means they also lost out on benefiting from the Clipper discount.

Oh that's surprising, apparently they no longer sell paper day passes either... Seems like they're trying really hard to force everyone on Tap (is there anything stopping buses from moving to an all-Tap system? Especially since Metro Rail has discontinued cash entirely)

Also fare boxes... already have printers built in?? It's how paper transfers are printed lol. Just print the receipt on the same card stock as the transfers

If LA Metro's old system was belt-and-suspenders, this is the graph of Metro's pants falling down. www.enforcethefares.org
In 2018, the number of fare checks mysteriously plummeted from over 300k fare checks per month to under 50k.

Dubai's RTA and Glydways visit to Tri Delta Transit today is an unfortunate reminder of the pod project that CCTA and Tri-Delta are pursuing. This is going to require 2 transfers just to get on regular BART from Brentwood.

Giving Petaluma our old Van Hools might be the funniest thing AC Transit has ever done (this bus was sweltering in the 80° heat and an AC system that works with air flow forced into the intake as the bus moves... in stop and go traffic 😭)

He’s able to do so much so quickly because NYC has a large and well-funded bureaucracy. A lot of what he is doing, like a fast rollout of busways and bike lanes, are things people in the bureaucracy have wanted to do for years but kept being held back by the indecision of their political principals.
