Old Ladybird Books updated. The shopping list, 1964 and 1972 Artists: John Berry Martin Aitchison
Mother in a trim, lime green suit politely goes through her shopping list to her neatly dressed children A much more casual scene with mother in brown slacks - her pull-along hoover behind her
- and the two children looking more scruffy and less interested

Sometimes I get sent a video or photo of a dog and we have to drop everything. This was such a case. Left behind by his "owners" and in a bad way medically. I'm hopeful we can turn his life around. I called him Frank as I hope he puts on weight one day and becomes Frank the Tank

After years of frustration in his quest it would seem that one of the Empire's deadliest bounty hunters has finally tracked me down. tomcox.substack.com/p/some-notes...
What I at first thought of as a long-horned sheep, staring at me from an adjacent field on Dartmoor, but is actually a deadly bounty hunter from outer space who has been trying to track me down for many years, across several galaxies, and is feeling smug that he is finally going to receive the considerable fee, plus travel expenses, that he has been promised for his troubles.

#FingerpostFriday When I was a child in the 1960s, Din Lligwy on Anglesey was across some open fields from the road. I was surprised, when visiting a couple of weeks ago, that it is now sheltered behind mature woodland, mainly sycamore, I think. So, those mature trees are younger than I am 😱🫣🤣

This afternoon's walk was a short one only, along Noctorum Ridge and down to Bidston Village. Some puddles on the sandstone after the overnight rain, but most of the paths are draining fine, and not yet muddy.

Norway produces more oil than Venezuela. And yet, between January and August 2026, electric vehicles made up 97.8 percent of all new cars sold in that country. Moving to EVs is often based on intelligence, not need. Which is why it lags in the notoriously short-sighted and stupid United States.

When the meat industry writes the factory farm standards, passing inspection may say more about the standards than the welfare. #animalrights #factoryfarms
Four-panel cartoon inside a clean industrial pig barn with concrete floors, metal railings, feeding troughs, and overhead lights. A woman with black hair in a bun, a blue-and-white striped shirt, black pants, and red sneakers holds a clipboard beside a pink pig. She says, “Everything meets industry standards.” The pig asks, “Who wrote them?” Looking uncomfortable, the woman answers, “The industry.” In the final panel, the pig faces the reader with a skeptical expression and says, “How convenient for the industry.” “The Vegan’s Voice” appears beneath the panels.
