I'm not even joking; literally not even a decade ago, Halloween still waited till the last week or maybe two weeks of October. It's basically a shopping Holiday in the vein of Valentine’s Day and brings in more money than any other holiday save Christmas. It's a capitalist invention.

I have been looking forward to SiN Reloaded for the last several long years, and when it originally got put on ice, I figured the re-announced version of the game would be cut down from what was originally announced. I am not sure it is; there are some level editions here that took me by surprise.

This is my main problem with certain media types, like say Black Mirror, and on the other hand "Cozy" whatever. The former tends to revel in such deep cynicism that it's incapable of giving us a vision of a better tomorrow, and the latter is the equivalent of sticking your head in the sand.

If there is any reason I think AI slop might take over, at least for a time, it's this. People simply consume; they have no imagination in and of themselves anymore. There is a lot that can be said about this, and probably a lot has to do with the death of "play" as an idea.
