The original WipEout soundtrack still goes hard *31 years later*. Incidentally, my hip is killing me.

"The big problem with AI is that Grandma, Dad, Sis and the dog are not upbeat enough about our nerve-shredding wails of pain next to our titanic Moloch" *The AI Age is growing old just like the Space Age and the Atomic Age. How do you off-the-wall weirdos expect this situation to play out

Likely ASIO and ASD should also be investigating this as a mass surveillance and espionage attempt.

Furthermore, OpenAI, their agents, subsidiaries, lobbyists, the lot must be locked out of tendering, supply contracts, physical and network access to public sector services and estates. This is would be true of any other private enterprise contractor having committed a serious breach.

Hey @albomp.bsky.social - this one is an easy win. Drag OpenAI to court and absolutely excoriate them. Every individual record accessed is a knowing and intentional criminal breach. There’s no acceptable settlement here. Monetary damages must be in the 10s of billions to be effective.

Speculative fiction aligned concept artists of the 20th-21st centuries have been far more influential in my life than the French impressionists. Like, hell yeah Matisse, that’s great, but give me Alan Lee, Ralph McQuarrie, Greg Broadmore, Christian Pearce, etc.

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

Queensland MPs overjoyed to have a new grift (data centres) that justifies all their existing grifts (massive kickbacks for their coal mining sponsors). Never mind the spectacular amount of solar energy available consistently in western QLD, of course. No special bonuses for special friends there.

I cycle to work here in Dublin whenever I can though it is a bit risky, not least because of the fat e-bikes with vestigial pedals and my fellow cyclists that consider road rules and traffic lights to be something that happens to other people. :P

No joke, one of the first things the US needs to do post-Trump will be to fully fund the regulators and arm them to the teeth. Yes, prosecute all the obvious corruption and crimes, fuck ICE into the bin, etc. but having an FTC/FCC that actually punishes bad behaviour is required to make it stick.

Hey. You may be having a bad day. But at least you’re not having as bad a day as whoever owns this boat.
A lovely little yacht, clearly someone’s pride and joy, in Dun Laoghaire harbour. I do mean ‘in’ quite literally here as the waterline is almost over the deck. She’s goin’ down, cap’n.Aaaaand she’s gone. Photo taken from RNLI team attempting recovery showing nothing but a mast sticking up out of the water, rolled over at an angle that indicates the boat has found a new home on the harbour floor.

No perovskite based solar panels on the market yet specifically because they require a heavy metal like lead to act as an electron donor and, y’know, no one likes that. Performance potential is huge but they’re not inherently safe yet, so people still working on them.

Could go Druid and spec into wild shape for big damage soak? Then you still have a few options for clutch casting and big AoE as well as martial options depending on your class features. Alternately, consider the War domain cleric? Or just good ol’ Paladin?

Literally an AI ad for a concentration camp, in which Ben-Gvir joyfully starves Palestinian prisoners

Went up in one once and it was mad fun! Pilot demonstrated what happens when you lose power by shutting off the engine and casually gliding down about 200m at an impressive glide ratio. In his words: these things only crash when someone is doing something silly.
