I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

The @houstonchronicle.com posted this video and it's pretty jarring. No matter that he was fleeing, law enforcement officers may not use deadly force on someone who poses no significant risk of death or serious injury to others. Deliberately hitting someone with a car is a use of deadly force.

Holy shit FOUR members of the ethics committee in Denmark that gave the green light to allow the widely-condemned RFK Jr-funded trial to proceed in Guinea-Bissau have now resigned in protest This quote is 🔥 Great reporting by @melodyschreiber.com www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
Stig Børsen Hansen, a founding member who was one of two reviewers who presented the study to the Danish committee, resigned from the group in protest on Friday, citing major ethical issues with the study.

“You are now enrolling newborns in a lottery to test a hypothesis,” Hansen said. The children who are randomly selected not to receive the birth dose of the vaccine, those who “lost the lottery”, face in their earliest days the risk of contracting hepatitis B, which can cause irreversible lifelong damage. “They contract hepatitis B in the context of being part of a research project,” Hansen said, which made their infection happen, in effect, “by design”.

Three other members of the committee have also resigned in protest.

BFA General Assembly Notice of Motion
Resolution calling on the chancellor to engage faculty in OpenAI contract negotiations
BFA-26-28-09-1-R
Whereas generative AI constitutes a technology that concerns pedagogy, curriculum, research, scholarly or creative works, and academic ethics; and
Whereas the University of Colorado Regent Law stipulates that “faculty have principal
responsibility for decisions concerning pedagogy, curriculum, research, scholarly or creative
work, academic ethics”; and,
Whereas the Boulder Faculty Assembly and the Boulder Faculty Senate are the campus-wide
faculty governance bodies for expressing faculty voice on matters concerning “pedagogy,
curriculum, research, scholarly or creative work, academic ethics” and
Whereas the vendor OpenAI has demonstrated repeatedly that they do not prioritize the ethical
principles commonly adhered to by higher education institutions, such as intellectual property
rights, student health and wellbeing, end-user privacy, environmental stewardship, and
socioeconomic stability.2
Be it Resolved that the Boulder Faculty Assembly call on the chancellor of the Boulder campus to
not renew or extend the contract with Open AI.
Be it Resolved that the Boulder Faculty Assembly call on the chancellor of the Boulder campus
to consult a faculty-led working group, chosen in conjunction with the Boulder Faculty Assembly,
to negotiate any renewal or extension of the Open AI contract for the Boulder campus.
Be it further resolved that the university administration work with the Boulder Faculty Assembly
and college faculty governance groups, as appropriate, to develop an AI strategy that meets the
various needs of our campus community before initiating, extending, or modifying any AI contracts, so that we minimize 1) disruption to undergraduate education, 2) endangerment of intellectual property rights, or 3) potential harm to the wellbeing of our community.

UNM has a tenure track posting in Anthropology for an archaeologist to be a “core faculty member” at the Center for Stable Isotopes. Application access is thru unmjobs.unm.edu posting #38046 #AnthroSky #PhDLife #AnthroJob
The UNM Department of Anthropology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Archaeology to begin in August 2027. We seek to hire an integrative archaeologist with a focus in the analysis of stable isotopes to address anthropological questions, including but not limited to the reconstruction past human habitats, diets, modifications of the environment, or responses to climate change. Research foci should complement, and not duplicate, existing specializations in our program. UNM Archaeology has long been a leader in theoretically informed, question-driven, and methodologically sophisticated anthropological archaeological research addressing long-term perspectives on the human experience across the globe. The successful candidate will add to Archaeology's record of innovative, collaborative, and ground-breaking research on cultural dynamics and past human-environment interactions.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a core faculty member in the UNM Center for Stable Isotopes (CSI), an interdisciplinary research and analytical facility supporting stable isotope research across Anthropology, Biology, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Chemistry, and the Biomedical Sciences. The candidate will collaborate with faculty and students across these disciplines and help train early career scientists in stable isotope methods.
The position offers opportunities to expand CSt's state-of-the-art analytical capacity through the development of new methods and capabilities. We seek a scientist who thrives in the laboratory and is committed to instrument development, calibration, quality control, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to our two-week summer training course, IsoCamp (isocamp.org), and to pursue a leadership role within CSl.
