Indeed! And disabled people care about geopolitics and the environment too. Which is why I support their autonomy to get around safely and conveniently without a car. I'm glad you're on board.

I've long believed the toilet division shouldn't be gents/ladies, but rather people who leave the toilet clean / people who can't get their excretions into the excretion disposal unit.

In fact, given you can pay extra to park you car beside your accommodation, we're at the point where Center Parcs miss the point of Center Parcs.

I hate that the workers in the vehicles at Center Parcs completely miss the point of Center Parcs. The full size bin lorries driven like they're on main roads are the worst part of a trip, closely followed by the delivery cars and the maintenance vans.

You see them all the time driving around, and they're just the obvious ones. It really shouldn't be that difficult to catch criminals when they're literally advertising it to the world.

1) Why the cap is so high? 2) Why are we comfortable with rich people having a disproportinate influence on our politics just because they happen to be based in the UK?

It's so prevalent, it can be impossible to tell the difference between sarcasm and the deranged rantings of the car brained. Keep up the good work!

My daughter did the same at that age with Father Christmas on a bike on a play street. I hear he still talks about it with his reindeer, he was rather touched by the whole thing.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Katharina was being serious with this one... an example of what drivers say rather than a driver saying it.

Councils have the power to take control of long term empty properties, bring them up to a lettable standard and put tenants in them. Why are those powers not being exercised here?

To be fair, driving to test your eyesight was a perfectly reasonable defence in 2020

Even locking a bike up is a massive faff. Lock through the frame & wheel to a fixed object. Use a Gold rated lock. Add an extra wire through the front wheel for extra security & try to thread it through your helmet while working in a confined space. It all detracts from the convenience of cycling.

Lovely and wide, but I'd prefer the beds to be between the cycle path and the motor traffic. I wouldn't be comfortable cycling with a small child on that path.

That last bit is so important. We've had endless climate plans that launch to great fanfare never to be implemented. Great ambition needs the even greater tenacity to execute.

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 07/08/2026
I feel like the answer here is both, not either/or. I'm concerned about climate, algorithms rotting our brains, propoganda, extremism, the gradual chipping away of civil/human rights, etc. I also like to have a pint without inadvertently breaking a bylaw, or licence condition.

Haha, excellent! It's amazing once you start driving at appropriate speeds how often 20 feels slightly too fast for the conditions.

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
The answer is to drive at 18mph then. No one is making them drive at exactly 20.

He's really hit on something there. I appreciate this sort of bold, progressive thinking when faced with big problems.

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
I'm not sure I follow? Perhaps I wasn't clear, I'm suggesting that e-motorbikes and e-scooters are too fast & have too much momentum to coexist comfortably with pedal bikes and pedestrians; they don't move at human speeds and it's more appropriate that they travel on the roads with faster vehicles.

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
The wonderful thing about pedal bikes is that they're human powered and travel at human speeds meaning pedestrians and pedal cyclists can mix in large, shared spaces without too many issues. E-motorbikes and scooters are great, but cannot exist in that same space without consequence.

I agree with him on the street clutter, both signs and other obstructions unnecessarily taking up space and interfering with the aesthetics. I expect we disagree on the detail behind the headline.

I just grabbed these screenshots from the Census in response to somebody suggesting that nearly everyone has to drive in poor northern towns (where I grew up, incidentally). The numbers who don't have cars can be staggering, not that you'd know it from a lot of transport discourse

I suspect we'd agree on a lot (or maybe not?) - I was already starting to ramble so didn't expand too much on Zack. It's likely a combination of his priorities and the people he's attracted to the party that's giving me an uneasy feeling about this iteration if the Greens.

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
It's short term policies that serve to make people feel good, rather than fix the complex interconnected systems at play. There's no vision of a future where we win people over (e.g. farmers) to be more connected to nature while improving their lives. These are not the greens of Caroline Lucas. 3/3

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Zack was initially a breath of fresh air; I loved listening to his podcasts, that he's prepared to listen and understand the nuance of a debate. But the rise of the greens is now built on sand; support that will leave it as soon as it's arrived. The last podcast equated to landlords=bad. 2/3

Christopher @findingchristopher.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
To jump in here, for me the Greens have always built a solid base, growing slowly (sustainably?) and winning people over with solid policy arguments and a long term view. I haven't always agreed with them, but I've been broadly aligned with their way of thinking. 1/3

I note with interest right-wing media's total absence of any concerns about prominent BBC presenter Armstrong expressing his highly political opinions. As was always perfectly clear to many of us, the problem was not that Lineker had views, but the fact they didn't approve of his views.
