Fwiw, I don’t really enjoy trading and think trades have an outsized role in fantasy, so I am coming at this with an admittedly anti-trade bias, but I at least appreciate the role of trades in dynasty/keeper/contract leagues.

The best/only trade motivation (i.e., buy/sell a vet based on contender status) is absent in redraft. Both teams can theoretically benefits from these trades. Redraft trades are practically zero-sum because so many variables are fixed in-season. Worse still, you often know at trade-time who won

I find Flanagan’s writing didactic and superficial; his pacing excruciating; and his impulse to couch every narrative in family drama lazy. Midnight Mass is probably the worst offender, but all his work suffers in similar ways.
