Is that subtle marketing towards people who are living in their vehicles?

I've got the quote for this, unfortunately. "Women quickly learn that rape is only a crime in theory; in practice the standard for what constitutes rape is not set at the level of experience of women's violation but just above the level of coercion acceptable to men." - Judith Lewis Herman

WA has a fantastic voting system. It was one of the great delights of moving here; I hadn’t realized just how much of the frustration I experienced voting in the Midwest was downstream of intentional voter suppression efforts.

Disabled people make society uncomfortable Homeless people make society uncomfortable Why? Because they’re minority groups you can join anytime People don’t want to sit with the discomfort becusss then they have to admit it could happen to them Help us build systems of support Don’t look away.

So many people desperately need to believe in a just world where the most vulnerable of us don’t get neglected, abused or abandoned. They would rather blame us for our suffering than acknowledge the harsh reality of our world, where everyone is one unlucky day away from being disabled.

Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

I don't think you get to just decide to call yourselves "Rationalists" and say you're advocating "Rationalism" and expect that everybody else is supposed to just swallow that uncritically and defer to your superior rationality. That's not how that works, even apart from the orgies and whatnot.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

As a society we must do a better job of listening to disabled people. As the incomparable Alice Wong used to say… we’re oracles. We can offer a window into what comes next for you and your loved ones. We have wisdom to share. We also know how to fight systems of oppression.

The fact that Musk himself is sponsoring so many of the anti-trans ads this cycle presents a pretty golden opportunity for Dems to point out that of course the guy who literally wants to build a gas-powered data center in your backyard wants this election to be about trans people.

Mitch McConnell disappeared for three months & kept his full salary. Disabled people are forced to prove they’re “still disabled” just to remain in legislated poverty. Folks on SNAP must re-apply and prove they’re “still poor”. Republican Senators don’t even have to prove they’re alive.

This is shameful discriminatory and misogynistic reporting. People aren’t choosing disability to be “cool”. Young women don’t have to “prove” to you that they’re sick. Disability rates are skyrocketing because we’ve left a disabling virus rip through the population for over 6 years.

Those of us in the ME/CFS community have watched this movement building for years now. In addition to pushing [more] ableist eugenics into the mainstream, it seems like a fairly intentional effort to avoid paying disability supports for chronic illness.

Most people who've never been abused are — full offense — truly clueless how this stuff works and they'll quickly and eagerly ally with the abuser, because that's what feels easier. They'll assume victims are somehow exaggerating or something. They ignore the situation, again just feels easiest.
