I honestly struggle to see the point... You already can buy a used (and chipped) PS2, Chinese handhelds with PS2 support, or just emulate it on basically any machine from the last 15 years... And there's tons of new PS2-inspired games I don't understand the need for it to be a New Official Product™

I feel Dragon's Dogma is suffering from the same issue as the Souls series - all the cool ideas are slowly overtaken by focus on its combat. Yeah, the combat is good, but to me the real charm was how its world reacted to your actions, not just A/B choices on a menu. No one mentions that anymore :/

This is a nice article, I would just add the angle of accessibility - Pokémon is a global phenomena but original games are very expensive to play and only available in a few languages. As someone who grew up with the original, I really disagree... it it was an optional easter egg I would be all for it, but as the only English dub it feels like a meme that went too far. Or maybe it's just some poorly-disguised cost-cutting.
