Anyone know anything about The Governments My First Home scheme? That it's open to non EU citizens and it's hard for some countries to check if applicants for the Irish scheme already own properties in other jurisdictions.

Have been a regular for ~35 years at Lansdowne but couldn’t stomach it this evening. None of us took our season ticket seats. Would have enjoyed seeing that goal live but struggling to articulate how we feel about this team. It was good to see the protest there despite RTÉ cutting away a lot.

Again, this proposal- accurately denounced here as incompatible with the EU Chart of Fundemental Rights- is the product of our Government. One of our Ministers has proposed it. Amongst other changes, it proposes that the rights of AI companies to harvest data should stand above humans’ data rights.

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Massively frustrating that despite being pro-Palestine generally as a nation with many working tirelessly to support and help those suffering, we, and by extension the people of Gaza, are consistently let down on a global stage by the people who are supposed to represent us

This is why it's not 'just football.' 'Politics has no place in sport' is a really convenient line if you're actively engaging in genocide and would rather the world didn't discuss it. Israel are well aware of the power of sportswashing. They're usually just too shit to take advantage of it.
The leadership of the Israel team used their press conference to read a statement congratulating Ireland on their decision to play. “What we have seen today is that football has won,” it read. “The separation between football and politics must continue. Anything else spells chaos and creates consequences for the game we love. The Irish took the right decision in agreeing to this. Even if it took longer than it should, it was welcome.”

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power. Remember this.
