Not sure why this is so hard, in an editorial that calls for more education, to point out that various types of lithium batteries have markedly different fire risk. Can we start citing the battery chemistry pls. (I realize most bikes and scooters use NMC and LCO which are the types most prone)..

My hot take is this is not a good hot take re #AltoTrain www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com... Saying airports are not subsidised. Well maybe not now. Keller doesn't think government was involved in developing airports?

I will forever disagree that a politician blocking someone on X is a Charter violation, so I can't agree that their being on it is one either. But, what it is, is morally repugnant, and I'm sad that we don't live in a society that punishes politicians for being morally repugnant.

The Port Authority has submitted a letter to the Planning & Housing Committee re: Ookwemin Minising requesting that future residents agree to “warning clauses” about noise from the airport. Also suggests buildings be designed so windows can stay closed. www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis...
Designing and constructing new residential buildings with appropriate acoustic
performance standards (e.g., enhanced Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings for
building envelopes);
• Providing for mechanical ventilation and air conditioning to allow windows to remain
closed where necessary to achieve indoor environmental performance targets; and
• Including clear warning clauses in agreements of purchase and sale and/or lease, and
securing such notices through registration on title, to inform prospective residents of
the presence of nearby marine and aviation operations and the potential for
associated noise impacts.

As for those who say the scale is not the same: Canada's population is highly concentrated. 20 million people live in the Quebec City-Windsor corridor, equivalent to Morocco's Atlantic coast mainline.

A disappointing G&M editorial about #Alto project. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/edit... I'm normally an incrementalist, but the sustained will to get better intercity rail has never existed as evidenced by 50 yrs of no improvement.

Turns out today is ANOTHER good day for Pierre Poilievre to prove to Canadians that he’s actually capable of passing the standard & normal security check, & get the security clearance that he’s refused to get. Until he does, I’m continuing to assume that it’s because he knows that he can’t pass it.
