@wardqnormal.bsky.social Here I was hanging and talking with Steve three summers ago. What a delightful time. I have been going through as many of his written pieces and especially Hunter interview transcriptions. Please reach out if you might be willing to share more from his files? Love and thks.

@wardqnormal.bsky.social I thought you might get a kick that one of the AI transcription programs was trying to parse a podcast, and when the recording played "Attics Of My Life", it assigned the words to Steve's voice.

"Garcia Hates Fame" Melody Maker 49 (September 14, 1974). David Bowie and John Lennon photo. Cover package: Jethro Tull, Ravi Shankar, and Disco music. For me, the kicker "Dead" and sell line "Garcia Hates Fame" would have had me coughing up 12p right quickly. www.reddit.com/r/Fate_Music...

I'm going to write on this, but the subtext is that the Nate Silver crowd have shifted hard away from political science, and hard towards the Silicon Valley mindset as a foundational source for purportedly better grounded knowledge. This by @beenwrekt.bsky.social and @leifw.bsky.social

- A related Jerrybase project needs a social network graph analyst. - the Phish project involves pulling data via their API for specific queries and possibly helping refine the results - Other projects are possible! I'm acting as talent finder/matchmaker in both cases, so hit me up 🧵

Live rock music in Palo Alto had nearly died in the early 70s, but it came back strong after 1974. I look at all the rock concerts in Palo Alto and Stanford U from 1974-77, the high water mark for live rock in the area. rockprosopography101.blogspot.com/2025/07/palo...

Jerry Garcia and Kingfish played El Camino Park in downtown Palo Alto on June 8 '75. The Dead had played a Be-In there on July 2, 1967. Although a successful show, it was the last live music at El Camino Park.

Stanford University had banned rock concerts in the 10,000+ capacity Frost Amphitheater after a wild July 1971 show featuring Santana. In 1975, the University relented and re-opened Frost to rock music. On June 26, 1976 The Band kicked off their final tour there, supported by the Flying Burrito Brothers.

Frank Zappa headlined Stanford University's Maples Pavilion, the basketball arena, on Saturday November 19, 1977. He had a killer band with Adrian Belew, Terry Bozzio and Ed Mann, and they played much of the Sheik Yerbouti album.

But we have to keep in mind that members of The Cult of the Red Hat do not believe in the rule of law, only the rule of power. They applaud only when they win.
