ice was in elgin today. on tuesday, ice kidnapped people from chicago’s hermosa neighborhood as well as the suburbs of bolingbrook (west) and waukegan (far north). last week, feds in six vehicles abducted an adult and three kids from near their home in woodlawn. they never left. they never stopped.

Concerned this will be something like Pritzker bringing the state police to Broadview. The official narrative was that they were there to protect us, but what they really did was insulate ICE from protest. There are protesters who are still facing charges from their violent arrests by state cops.

Hundreds of immigrant mothers and children detained at a South Texas facility on Saturday protested the killing of a 37-year-old man in Minneapolis, chanting "Let me out" and "Libertad," or "Liberty," according to an immigration lawyer who witnessed the demonstration.

Eric Lee, the lawyer, said he had been waiting for his client in the visitation area of the family detention center in Dilley, Tex., when detention officials abruptly asked him to leave. Once outside, he peered through a chain-link fence and saw hundreds of women and children walking out of the facility and chanting in protest.

Lee said his client later told him on the phone that he and other detainees were outraged over the latest killing in Minneapolis and the detention of Liam Conejo Ramos, the 5-year-old boy from Ecuador detained with his father in Minneapolis and sent to Texas.

UPDATE: We met ChongLy Thao, who goes by Scott, today along w his son, Chris. Scott told us about being taken, driven around til the agents figured out he was a U.S. citizen & not their alleged target, then dropped back off at home w no apology.Came back later and ICE was back, idling in the street.

While Border Patrol photographers snapped photos, one agent shouted, “Everyone say, ‘Little Village!’”

“Little Village!” the crowd shouted back from the Downtown sculpture, located 6 miles northeast from the Chicago neighborhood.

Little Village is a famous Mexican-American enclave on the Southwest Side — and federal immigration agents have repeatedly targeted the people who live and work there. Agents tear-gassed a Little Village street this weekend and were spotted in the area numerous times.
