I walked by a monument to COVID health care workers on the Hudson River a few weeks ago and realized, "wow, a million people died and nobody even stopped to mourn it." It was the first time I saw any monument to COVID deaths because we've politicized a million dead people. It's been 3+ years.

an eye opening thing to learn was that the reason golden era simpsons is so packed with songs is apparently because the writers earned little-to-no residuals from the actual episodes, but *did* get sizable residuals from ASCAP for any songs in episodes that they had a songwriting credit on.

The Huckins family and the Noble family have not met, yet their journeys — from blue Oregon to red Missouri, and from red Iowa to blue Minnesota — mirror each other, unfolding only five weeks apart this spring. One family relocated because of a single issue — restrictions on transgender rights — while the other believed a broad swath of progressive policies had degraded their quality of life. But both families used strikingly similar language to describe their main concern: the need for personal safety.
