I think what frightens me most is that the sheer volume of things to be horrified by has become its own kind of protection for the people responsible. Nothing has to be explained or resolved becuase a story or a scandal or a tragedy only has to survive until the next thing happens in five minutes.

I was struck that Mamdani just released his plan to combat anti-Semitism, and he sidestepped the question of Israel, seeing it as separate from anti-Semitism. For us, these issues intersect and overlap.
