Day 6 of the UCU workers' strike against senior management and their extraction of ever-higher wages for senior management. Thousands lose their jobs, thousands more must carry the extra workload, and terms & conditions deteriorate. All these things connect, founded on the logic of inequality.

I like that the Irish for 'tonight' is related to English's word, but not so with the Irish for 'night' – while the former (anocht) maintains the common Indo-European root for 'night', the latter (oíche) is of unknown origin beyond Old Irish.

The tall stone cross of Skellig Michael. It is decorated with a double-lined Latin cross, carved into a weathered stone that had been roughly hewn into a cross shape. This 2.4m high cross stands on a leacht, a drystone altar, giving it an even more imposing aspect in the small monastery. #Ireland

Update to the previous announcement. The server limitation is apparently set in stone, making it currently impossible for the site to be fully operational. Workarounds are being explored but sadly, I don’t see an easy fix anytime soon.
