Jane Fonda’s tribute to Dolly is perfect.
janefonda
I am devastated. I just learned that Dolly has moved on. I know that millions are mourning and I want to say this - more than anyone I have ever known, Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever. We have our memories of her, her songs, Dollywood, "9to5," the millions of books she got into the hands of children, all the iconic images that bring her to us. And they are all blessings. Let's be grateful for all that she has left us to ease our sadness now. I never knew anyone like her. She was simultaneously a naughty, playful southern gal from the hollows of
Tennessee and a deep, soulful thinker who could see through people right down to their true selves. She was many things...lyricist, songstress, player of many instruments, writer, prankster, visionary, loyal friend, who'd never go to bed before she and her friends had laughed so hard
they'd have to cross their legs.
She had a survivor's instinct and seemed to always know just what to do, just what to say, to make things right....and then she's stick her butt out the car window and moon Kenny Roger's home. She was the voluptuous embodiment of empathy. That's something of hers she'd want us all to take with us.
To her gay and trans fans, I want you to know that she loved you. You know that without me telling you. She loved all her fans and they are legion. And you know she doesn't want y'all to mourn now. Dress up and celebrate her spirit. But first, watch the final episode of Grace and Frankie where she's an Angel, the head honcho working class angel in Heaven.
RIP, beautiful woman. We love you.

First, he didn't blame the refs for the loss. He said they made it harder to win against a great team like the Spurs, and that his team didn't execute. Second, any coach who sees his star get mauled like that in a playoff game with no call needs to call out the refs. It's part of his job.

Hoo-boy, this judge seems a lot more open to this than I expected. She has ordered DOJ to respond, including by explaining whether there was collusion, whether the parties are adverse, whether the case was "premised on deception," and if the court was a "victim of a fraud." Link in alt text
https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.flsd.706172/gov.uscourts.flsd.706172.65.0_1.pdf

Here, the non-party movants advance grievous allegations that Plaintiffs
voluntarily dismissed this litigation solely to avoid judicial scrutiny of a lawsuit that “was
collusive from the start” and was only filed to provide the imprimatur of legality for an
unlawful settlement. (DE 63 at 16). They point to the fact that the settlement in question
includes a “three-paragraph addendum2 . . . [that] purports to ‘forever bar[] and preclude[]’
the United States from pursuing claims that could have been [otherwise] asserted
[against] Plaintiffs,” (Id. at 8), and highlight the fact that Defendants did not “even try[] to
defend against Plaintiffs’ claims” despite their active opposition to nearly identical claims
in other litigation.3 (Id. at 16). Finally, the non-party movants assert that Plaintiffs’ claims
were “clearly untimely” and therefore untenable. (Id.).
Accordingly, it is ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that Plaintiffs shall file a response
to the Motion (DE 63) on or before June 12, 2026, detailing their position on the matters
set forth in the Motion, including (1) the charges of collusion and whether the Parties are
truly adverse; (2) the assertion that the dismissal in this case was premised on deception
by the Parties; and (3) the question of whether the case should be reopened because the
Court was the “victim of a fraud.” (DE 63 at 13, citing 11 Charles Alan Wright & Arthur R.
Miller, Federal Practice and Procedure § 2870 (3d ed.)). The non-party movants may, if
they choose, file a reply on or before June 19, 2026.

This is a 13th Amendment violation. The people detained by ICE have not been convicted (as required by the 13th) and are being held as a regulatory measure. The Second Circuit allowed a similar claim to proceed involving a pre-trial detainee. See McGarry v. Pallito, 687 F.3d 505 (2nd Cir. 2012).

Running a small firm means that you get law vendor junk mail on a regular basis, but Lexis is taking it to a new level. In what looked like a serious envelope addressed to the firm, I received the following memo. (Memo!) I am not a Lexis customer; this is aimed at signing me up.
On fancy letterhead: "MEMORANDUM:
Re: Adoption Criteria Governing the Use of Legal Al in Client Research and Drafting
To: Attorneys at Small Law Firms
From: LexisNexis
Date: April 29,2026

Purpose
This memorandum summarizes risk, quality, and workflow considerations relevant to the use of legal AI in
client research and drafting, informed by recent federal decisions and attorney survey data.

Then there's a Table of Authorities, citing two cases and one other authority

Question Presented
What criteria should govern the use of legal Al in client research and drafting based on how small law firms
assess risk and quality?
Short Answer
Legal AI is most appropriate for client work when it is grounded in trusted legal authority, keeps research and
drafting connected, supports repeatable workflows, and produces drafts aligned with firm precedent.Discussion
I. Trusted Authority Is a Threshold Requirement
Recent federal decisions confirm that attorneys remain responsible for verifying Al assisted work product.
In United States v. Farris, the court sanctioned counsel after Al generated content included fabricated quotations
and misrepresented authority. Likewise, in Mata v. Avianca, Inc., the court-imposed sanctions where filings
relied on citations to non existent cases generated by an AI tool. Both decisions reinforce that reliance on Al
does not relieve attorneys of their duty to verify authority before submission.
Attorney expectations mirror these rulings. According to the 2026 ALM Small Law Al Value Survey, 94% of
attorneys agree that AI used for client work must be grounded in trusted legal content and include citation
validation.
II. Integrated Research and Drafting Reduce Risk
When research and drafting occur in disconnected tools, attorneys must independently reconcile outputs,
recheck citations, and confirm that drafted statements reflect the underlying law. This separation increases
review time and the likelihood that unsupported statements persist in final work product.
Survey data reflects resistance to fragmented workflows. 67% of attorneys prefer a single Al interface over
multiple disconnected tools, citing reduced friction and greater confidence in outputs.
III. Repeatable Workflows and Firm Precedent Matter More Than Speed
Attorneys evaluate efficiency by consistency and reliability, not isolated drafting speed.
Survey results show that 80% of attorneys agree that configurable workflows improve efficiency and consistency,
and 85% value AI drafting that builds from firm templates and prior work product. Drafts that align with
established firm practice allow attorneys to move work forward efficiently without sacrificing quality.

The memo then has a short conclusion.
