Sorry, I mean if you're in so much pain for normal abulatory daily activities, if it's become life-limiting, start the PT now so you'll be better ready for the surgery.

Sit on a wheelie chair. Use your legs to pull yourself around. Standing is the worst, esp on hard surfaces. But if exercise (light squats, bending, lunges, the above) are consistently painful, you should find a second opinion ortho surgeon.

When it feels weird/annoying/painful, I wrap it. Any good support knee wrap you can buy at CVS or I'll use an ace bandage. Don't wear that overnight. Rubbing the top of my kneecap. Pressure point? Idk. But it feels good. PT: sit down. Use your quad to straighten your leg. Clench. Repeat.

Legs were already strong af, so recovery was easy. PT will help get you there if needed. No reason to think surgery wouldn't clean up the problem, esp if it's flipping/getting caught. But for my left (which I continue to "ignore") here's what helps me: YOU HAVE TO WEAR GOOD SHOES. Arch support 💯💯💯

I tore my left meniscus decades ago, slightly. It's torn a bit more over the years, but not yet ready for surgery. Already have arthritis from a 1990 MCL tear w/ tibia fracture. I tore the right one pretty good, about 10 years ago. I held off on surgery til I was having trouble every stair ever.
