This would be a utterly insane change that both entirely misunderstands the issues we have with housebuilding and tne role of the EA/Natural England. Particularly given the huge additional responsibilities we've just given the latter. Hammer blow for nature and the enviroment for no good reason

The Tories have announced they would abolish Natural England, support a Third Runway & pull the UK out of the Aarhus Convention - in further signs they’ve totally given up on Middle England, don’t give a toss about the environment & just want to please some wealthy grouse moor owners & raving YIMBYs
Tory party press release: “[We will leave the Aarhus] Convention that powers the lawfare hindering every major infrastructure project in this country.”

“Abolish Natural England and the Environment Agency, moving to a more streamlined regulatory landscape to protect our environment.”Tory PR: “Support a Third Runway at Heathrow Airport and wider expansion, increasing capacity to deliver cheaper flights, better connections for passengers, and more exports of high-value British goods.”

Shame on Somerset Council for this. An opportunity to do something imaginative and community-led wasted, by risk-averse and cash-strapped LA. I predict developer “constraints” will be designed to maximise profit. Frome will become retirement space for wealthy outsiders at expense of locals. So sad

What an arrogantly vile man Harborne is. How patronising to describe his entitled buying up of our democracy as ‘philanthropy’. Get over yourself and go and build some hospitals, fund children out of poverty, eradicate disease… Sticking your grubby wealth in Farage’s pockets can only do us harm.

Harborne calls his latest bung to Farage a “philanthropic gift to the country”. Philanthropy isn’t funding racists and climate deniers. Or funnelling cash into deregulation and removal of our rights so tax-avoiding billionaires can profiteer from the chaos. That’s just corruption. We don’t want it.

This is genuinely shocking. Do we infer from this that two billionaires are attempting to buy our democracy? Why would they do that? So they can advance a very specific political agenda, maximise their personal wealth? If not, what makes them throw so much money Reform’s way? Genuinely disturbing

I, Kevin Rowland (the son of Irish immigrants) and the main songwriter of ‘Come On Eileen,’ am disgusted to learn that Nigel Farage has used our song to make his entrance for his party conference. Myself, and all of Dexys are passionately against Farage’s politics.
