Needle drop in last night's Scrubs I guess signals the end of Braff's one-time desire to utilise it in a project he wrote many years back. I asked him about it once and he still had clear vision and desire, but in the past decade that looks to have lost out.

When I was at Rolling Stone, I was in frequent contact with Peacock PR about being on the set for the movie, which for a few minutes there was "definitely" happening summer of '23. Then it didn't. It's a miracle that Party Down s3 got made. It's so hard bringing people back together. Plus strikes.

Really great thread here and this essay is wonderful. It makes me feel more sane for being long repulsed by this ghoul of a show.

It is a performance of joy so excessive, so desperate, that it reveals the void it attempts to cover. It is the logic of the assembly line applied to human connection. What Fallon offers is a standardized production of “fun” that feels increasingly like a desperate plea to ignore the crumbling world outside the studio walls.

Wasn't sure if there was a thing the marketing of Digger was hiding that would change the temperature of the film as it plays out and reveals, but the reviews pretty much confirm that nope, the film's marketing is bad because the raw materials are bad.

For the past year I've slowly been listening through the Rolling Stone top 500 albums, today I'm onto The B-52's and this is why I wanted to do it. As a kid the band appeared in The Flintstones and I assumed the sound was what a lot of adult music was going to be, to this day not enough do.
