crayon and ink drawing of a bunch of fishy creatures among a sort of network of waves, and a sunny spiral above giving off squiggly rays. really, this whole planet is a life boat in the ocean of space, if you think of it that way.

9 cards, each made with the rubber-stamp image of four skulls, a ribcage across a pair of skeleton hands, and each decorated with rubber-stamps of a heart, a flower, an anchor, a shoe, and a house. The skeleton rubber stamp set was a gift to me. Decorations of leaves were made using a pen nib that was also a gift.

Really compelling article about "end times fascists" - and also a beautiful elegy for connecting with *here* with neighbors and with wonder. I'm more and more convinced that love of earth is the antidote to all the horrors of the current world's crises.

The end times fascists are plotting their escape from our world. Our mission is clear
An unholy alliance is working toward an apocalyptic future from which only a chosen few will emerge unscathed. It’s becoming clear how we stop them

ink and crayon doodle. a horse and a bird of some sort are head-to-head while a face that might belong to a sunflower of sorts looks a bit appalled. the horse is wearing green eyeshades, and the bird might be in a suit. if such a thing could be made to fit a bird.

7 Sept 2026 ayespider.com/2026/09/08/7... bonus darnstar picture if you visit the website my daily art - yesterday’s picture, but now with colors.
crayon colors added to the graphite drawing; graphite and watercolor. three faces so close that they are touching each other, the middle one is smiling widely and the other two are enjoying more quietly, and musical staves weave among them. I was fortunate to attend a concert of a trio led by John Zorn this evening. This drawing is not at all portraiture, but a representation of how wonderful it was to watch the communication and precision among the musicians as they produced sometimes gloriously chaotic-sounding noise.

5 Sept 2026 ayespider.com/2026/09/06/5... my daily art - burn what doesn’t serve
crayon and ink, abstract-ish. There’s something that looks like a fan of flames (it started out as a flower) rising up the middle, and three small blue creatures sit at its base. one seems to sleep, one is maybe sitting, one stands, sort of, though it doesn’t really have legs. This drawing was a bit of a journey, and I wouldn’t have minded burning it in the end.

29 Aug 2026 ayespider.com/2026/08/30/2... my daily art - rubber catacomb
I was gifted a set of rubber stamps of skeleton parts! so this picture has bones scattered all over it. there are two skull with crowns on them, and lines of arm bones to make the frame. some badly printed roses and butterflies from another stamp set, and a very sweet sitting mouse printed down at the bottom. all the rubber stamp prints are tied together with sweeps of color and some pencil shading. it’s a pretty chaotic mess really, but it was really fun dragging out some of my rubber stamps after a long while, and going to town with them.

crayon drawing of several odd-shaped plant beings, like wavy cones with the wide base on the ground, swaying to points up in the air. These actually are from memory of a series of morning glory plantings in my neighborhood, where the vines have swarmed up whatever supported them, and are now standing and blooming as if they’re a chorus that shouts in purple blooms every morning.

crayon drawing of a yellow quadruped with red and green spots, tongue sticking out and a red balloon floating next to them. The very first book I remember reading all by myself was Robert Lopshire’s “Put Me In The Zoo”. I was very proud that I could follow the story, and say all the words. But I was puzzled by this recurring word, which I pronounced “putt”. When it was explained to me, I was aggrieved by the illogic of spelling the english language.
