The debate over whether or not you should have civil rights is a "political difference" to them because they have willingly removed themselves from the situation. They have the luxury of doing that. Some people have that luxury and opt not to use it. To them, it's not something to be debated. EVER.

Anybody have kids who've done the CIEE summer abroad program? Alternately, are there any teenagers on this website for 38-year-olds who've done the CIEE summer abroad program recently? What were your experiences? Worth doing? Not worth doing? Secret child labor scam? My older kid is interested.

"The idea that you can easily separate 'economic' and 'cultural' issues is nonsense. It’s very expensive for transgender Americans to move to blue states so they can live freely. It’s harder to buy a house in a neighborhood with rising home values if you are Black." newrepublic.com/article/2159...

Why Democrats Should Stop Using the Phrase “Culture Wars”
Texas’s Gina Hinojosa and others slamming the party for focusing too much on so-called cultural issues are pushing a flawed electoral and policy strategy.

and yes, before anyone asks, I am absolutely familiar with Pascal Jousselin's Mr. Invincible (as it's called in English)! As good as I thought it was when I just seen a few pages online, when it finally came out in english, I was shocked how relentlessly creative he was page after page - so good!
Cover to Mr. Invincible, and interior page - in which using his powers to see the layout of the page, mr. invincible rescues a cat in a tree not by climbing the tree, but by reaching down to the panel below him and grabbing it that way. It's pretty fun - and only in comics!

in my talk today, as an example of the strange things you can do in comics given their sequential but also spatial/simultaneous nature, I included this gonzo panel from 1950s Batman, which I just love in all its weirdness! Yes, I have more intentionally clever examples, but something about this...
part of a page from a batman comic. In one panel, batman leaps from off panel onto a diving board, the motion lines of his rebound travel across to another panel, where we see him finish his leap and crash into the crooks to save the day

It's common enough... Doesn't happen to everyone every week but with distribution the way it is, there's now a larger chance of it happening than there as 6 years ago... 3 major distributors over 1 or 1 and. Half means more room for mistakes at each one. Lunar is just the worst for communication.

What shape it takes I had a good go with the last panel, I got out my 1950s copy of Black Bob - The Dandy Wonder Dog, but I spent so long just reading it that the pastiche may have suffered.

Wanna see the streaming content boom and bust in one chart? Of course you do. Resident population of Los Angeles, 2010-2025. See alt text for full description
Chart from FRED, the Federal Reserve’s statistical database. Shows the resident population of the Los Angeles-Anaheim-Long Beach MSA from around 2010 to now. The population line starts at 12.8 million, goes straight up, and peaks at 13.3 million in 2017. It sort of levels off at 13.2 million until 2020-2022 where it falls off a cliff. 2025 resident population was only 60,000 people higher than in 2010.
