Remembering that time when I was a kid, and there was a singer frequently playing on radio who was obviously high as a kite all the time. But my parents didn’t want to mention drugs where I could hear, so instead they described him as someone who was “drinking raw honey”.

ZOMG check out this variant cover for issue three of #StarTrek Zero Point by Niclas Mortensen. I love all the covers for this issue, but this one really conveys what issue three is about!

I just found a paper from 1908 that purports to discuss a Malagasy legend. It’s essentially one page of text presenting the Malagasy legend, then the writer goes “this reminds me of…” and then the paper’s remaining four pages are spent discussing a goddamn FRENCH legend.

By the look and sound of it, cockamamie (also spelled "cockamamy") could have something to do with a rooster and the outrageous sound it makes. But in fact, cockamamie is believed to be an altered form of the term decalcomania, which refers to the process, invented in the mid-19th century, of transferring pictures and designs from specially prepared paper to surfaces such as glass or porcelain. (The word referring to the picture or design itself, decal, is a shortening of decalcomania.) The word decalcomania comes from French, with décalcomanie combining the verb décalquer, meaning "to trace" or "to transfer by tracing," and -manie, meaning "-mania." Starting in the 1930s, painted strips of paper with images capable of being transferred to the skin were called decals or—in children's slang—cockamamies. Those familiar with today's temporary tattoos will understand quickly that these were regarded by many as silly novelties, lending the word cockamamie the necessary leeway for application to anything ridiculous.

Scen's dad left a rock to rule in his place and its technically legal

Scenwulf, a tall blonde werewolfesque prince in what my friend called 'his little gay robe' talking to Tam. In the first scribble he's showing him a large oblong rock. Next to it I wrote 'probably pointing out how phallic the rock is'.
Scen says, "I would like you to add finding my father to your little to-do list."

Scen waves his hand and turns. "You were here this morning. You saw." He stands beside the stone and gestures to it. "I'm sure we can agree a ROCK cannot rule in a king's place. He must return."
Tam says "The rules say the rock is as good as the king being here. They don't say it needs to be practical."

Scen looks annoyed. He folds his hands. "Fair enough. Since you'll be here for the week, Cousin, I'll have opportunities to demonstrate that my sire, this rock, can't fulfill his duties." He walks away. "And we can begin the process of dragging his ass back."
