Yes. This trend is not new. But many have ignored the warning signs. Because grappling with the resurgence of misogyny requires that we grapple with the bigger forces that (I would argue) are driving the appeal of misogynistic messaging. Like financial capitalism and neoliberal policy regimes.

In February, the Trump administration abruptly cancelled funding for all six Retirement and Disability Research Consortium centers across the country. They claimed that doing so saved “about $15 million.” I feel like the research did a lot more for society than rendition to a Salvadoran gulag.
