OPEN CALL: IS TIME STILL ON OUR SIDE? :
A Book For Joshua Wong's 30th Birthday
.
In 2017, Joshua Wong spent his 21st birthday in prison. Sam Yan Press marked it with our first book, Time Is on Our Side.
.
In 2026, Joshua turns thirty. He is still not free.
.
Nine years is long enough to ask harder questions, not just about Hong Kong, but about what happens to a generation's political imagination when its visible leaders are removed one sentence at a time, and what solidarity means once urgency runs out.
.
We're calling for letters, essays, poetry, and art from scholars, activists, writers, artists, students, and the public, reflecting on Joshua's life, imprisonment, and what he represents for Hong Kong, Asia, and beyond. Pseudonymous and anonymous submission available.
