I don't want to keep ridiculing my former employer @scmpnews.bsky.social. After all, I have to admit that I wasn't a great journalist and only spent about 3.5 years in my first career as a journalist at SCMP and I changed to work for @ucanews.bsky.social and later with various NGOs.

It's great to end the day of @rightscon.org hearing the speech by Prof. Ben Saul, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counter Terrorism and met with other legal and human rights experts. A very fruitful day, although didn't have time to work on my thesis today.

Periodic reminder that the most recent time that actual democratic elections were held in Hong Kong (back in November 2019), the result was a "yellow (pro-democracy) tsunami". Re the map below: if the Islands District had fully consisted of elected officials, it would have been yellow too.

還記得當年在香港見過一位叫池英花的垃圾北京律師，自以為是，非常氣焰，問我甚麼是不是很難受，還對我說甚麼與政府作對不會有好結果，垃圾至極，我是否會有好結果，沒所謂，但我看清某些中共律師有多垃圾。我才會理睬這些垃圾，我今天繼續罵中共，我結果很不好嗎?我餘生將作為一個普通人臭罵垃圾中共。

They should have never been detained. They only exercised their right to freedom of peaceful assembly. This case has again proved that the national security charges only limit citizens’ freedom and the authorities can arbitrarily abuse the draconian law to silence dissidents.
