You'll escape their clutches soon. It really is the "year of the Linux desktop" now. I promise it's easier to install Linux than Windows from a USB in 2026. I do both regularly. All you need is a flash drive, your OS of choice (Ubuntu or Mint are great places to start), and an app called Rufus.

Yeah all it needs to do is name resolution. Once it does that, your devices are able to establish a connection. It needs to be stable for the number of names your devices are resolving at a given time I say try it out and see how it runs, you can always add an Ethernet dongle if it's unstable
