Yes I have #pretendpanel , though fewer times than I would have thought given how often I've been on stage. I've read short extracts of prose a couple of times, and taken part in poetry readings. It's not often that I've been in my own stage play, but I have done some voice work for my video games.

No immediate plans, but I'm not opposed to the idea. One of my first published short stories was adapted for a podcast, and I think it worked pretty well. I'll put the pink in the comments, if anyone wants to listen and tell me. #pretendpanel

There are some authors whose works I cannot manage to read, but I've enjoyed audio versions of their books. I loved listening to Alias Grace, for example. I confess that, as I've gotten older, I find it hard to concentrate on other people's writing now -- I want to work on my own #pretendpanel

If I'm really in the zone and enjoying the words hitting the page, I hear every tiny detail. To the point I don't always hear what's going on around me. (Like phone calls) 😂 But if I'm struggling, the opposite happens. Even a pen on paper gets intrusive. #PretendPanel

I frequently start with no more than a snippet of dialogue, often just one line, and start from there. It’s total pantsing. Give me a line or a dramatic moment and I will write until I know who said it, why, and what it all means. #sustember

Eolas Pellor @eolaspellor.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
It mostly creeps out of the atmosphere, I find. Lines of dialogue, odd things half seen, the dawning sense that something is amiss, all help create the feeling something is wrong. It’s best when the reader realizes before the character, IMHO. #Sustember

Although the Temple is intended to resemble various "established churches" that have existed on Earth, the nature of the beliefs and Goddesses are unique to the planet/species/culture of the world. I studied (and taught) world religions, so I'm familair with what they have in common. #MythAugust

Lots of characters reference the Goddesses and religious belief, but often in a negative way: telling others that they can't do things, or that things aren't allowed because of the Holy Writ, when really they mean that they don't want others to do something. #MythAugust

At various stages of life, different Goddesses watch over people. As one passes from one stage to the next, the Goddess of the previous stage is thanked, and the amulet invoking the new goddess is formally bestowed. These ceremonies usually take place at the Temple. #MythAugust

Everyone is born into the religion; there's no formal profession of faith or baptism equivalent, though it is normal to take the newborns to the temple for blessing when they are 8 days old. A notorious heretic or atheist is required to undergo purification before being re-admitted. #MythAugust

#MythAugust 24 Amulets are fairly common. Prayers and chants exist, but you aren't likely to hear them unless someone's more than mildly terrified of something or you are in a temple (which most people don't go to regularly). Curse rituals absolutely exist (asking for bad luck and such), but 1/2

#MythAugust 24 It sounds simple but honestly it's just prayers well sort of, the gods work transactionally so if people want something from a god be it blessing, curse or whatever, they need to either offer something or be told what the god wants in exchange

The usual things are prayer -- sometimes private, sometimes corporate -- and bringing gifts to the temple to sacrifice by having them burned on the altar. Incense and woods that smell good when burned are the usual sacrifices. Privately people offer libations before major events. #MythAugust

The Holy Writ is extensive, and details creation, the War between Darzi-Ekh and the othger Goddesses and the Dark One. Other sections detail the laws handed down by the Priestesses of the past, and the teachings of the Prophetesses. For thousands of years the Holy Writ guided everyone. #MythAugust

Temples are the principal place of worship. They are large buildings, with stained glass windows, and a lens set into the wall, facing the Darzi-Ekh, to allow the rays to be focussed on the sacrifices on the altar. Every eighth day is for worship, and there are several feast days. #MythAugust

Each of the three deities views the other two as the source of the apocalypse. The 'end of the world' is the deity being defeated and their worshipers being lost forever. This is part of why the three get locked in such a vicious 3way war, and everything else kinda collapses around them. #MythAugust

They believe the end to be inevitable, so they are simply enjoying themselves while it lasts. No one else alive knows any of this. Yet. Whether the gods are right and it cannot be prevented, or if they are wrong, remains to be seen. This questions lurks behind nearly everything that occurs.

#MythAugust 21 Regular people have no reason to believe that the world will ever end. The Stream is eternal, and thus life is eternal. But the gods know that The End of All Things is coming. They know exactly how the world ends, and why. And they are not blameless in it. 🧵
