Pressure building up at and beyond Labour Party Conference because: - Brexit even more costly than predicted, hurting economy & damaging public finances - Geopolitical situation: aggressive Russia in east & unreliable USA in west - British public now has a steadily growing majority for rejoining EU

“But the educated citizen knows how much more there is to know. He knows that "knowledge is power," more so today than ever before. He knows that only an educated and informed people will be a free people, that the ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.”

A story in which government and media define "entrepreneur" as a private sector company large or small, and invite the managers of the largest multinationals to talk of their great knowledge and love of small companies. Not surprising we have a growth problem. www.ft.com/content/60ef...

Modified steel stile with stake & sheep netting squeeze added. A few stiles in this area were damaged and the path closed, so this gets it open again while waiting for a repair. West bank of the Trent near ex-Cottam power station. @lakesstiles.bsky.social

Our family shed / dog car lives to fight another day with a fresh MoT. This is proper low budget motoring, self serviced / repaired on a minimum outlay basis. I was worried about the engine warning lamp, which kept coming back when I reset it, but it passed emissions and stayed off for the re-test.

Brexit was, is and always will be a disaster and the vast majority now know this and want to rejoin. To try to keep discussion and debate over the EU out of politics and maintain red lines is cowardly and doing a huge disservice to the people of the UK.

The tories should have seen this coming and realised that PR was a good thing for them in the long term. Labour now in the same boat, a big majority on 34% of the vote likely to end up with a massive defeat in the low 20s% at the next GE. Our democracy needs PR. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It's funny, I have a competitor who does just that with a single channel controller on synchronised lifting equipment and gets away with it because customers are too stupid to ask questions. Incidents have happened and customers accept the 'it's all OK, we checked it' letter.

Corruption combined with protectionism not only ensures that uncompetitive industries get even more uncompetitive, it also favours companies because of political connections and not products, making things even worse.

The last ten years has mostly been a story of British voters punishing politicians for failing to achieve the impossible: to reverse the effects of Brexit without reversing Brexit. The politicians mostly knew this and lied about it, so we shouldn't feel too sorry for them.
