Replace heart with arse in love song lyrics (I’m assuming the reverse also applies…) Soon turned out, to be a pain in the heart. -Arse of Glass

I was going to have such a productive day but then I narrowly avoided an accident coming out of my own driveway earlier (luckily we both braked, I’m always really cautious exiting, our bend is deceptively blind). I’m back home from that errand, and still a bit shaken.

It’s anyone else’s asthma playing up at the moment? I’m coughing so much more than usual, and have been for a few weeks.

Does anyone I know happen to be somewhere near Auckland Showgrounds and have access to a printer? All my IT issues last week had some consequences… and I need a few docs printed, but I’m here alone. Am happy to pay if someone can pick up a USB, print them for me, and deliver back. 🙏

I’m trying not to be grumpy about how the cold is making my body so sore (scars etc tightening up and pulling other stuff into painful positions) and how much it sucks that I’m stuck with paracetamol and neurofen as my pain relief options. I have stronger stuff, but would have to forgo other meds.

Remember how I was really upset at myself a couple of weeks back because I forgot about I thing I’d really been looking forward too? Well this afternoon at about half past 3 I got a phone call. They were doing it for another team, and a last minute place had come up, so I got to go!

Hey you guys, you won’t believe this. The thing I missed out on was a free night walk at Zealandia. R had stopped off to feed friend’s cats while we were out for out walk (which was why I want home at the right time to remember) so he got home a few minutes after me.

I’m really upset at myself because I had a thing to go to this evening that was very timebound. I was really excited about it and have been thinking about how much I was looking looking forward to it for nearly a month. Today my brain went crickets on it, so I’ve missed out. 😭😭😭😭

For some reason my shoulder hates me at the moment. Probably related is that I’m also having a massive flare up of cording in my underarm. Stupid sequelae of survival. (I like being alive, I’m very grateful to be alive, I’m just grumpy when I’m in pain.)

Things that are usually very simple but occasionally inordinately difficult. Writing today's date when it is your own birthday. It's all good right up until you hit the year. Then your brain freezes, because normally you're writing your birth year next, but that's not what's required here.

I have quite a lot to do today, it is 5:30 am and I have not yet managed to fall asleep. Unfortunately all the things I have to do are in the afternoon-evening and involve other people so I can’t just get up and push through them nap later. There is prep, but I need to sleep first.

I’m well past needing to use things like this, but still, I winced. Also, how did they get that not only past the cervix (I hope anaesthetic was used) but also past all those bones hanging out INSIDE her vagina?

I feel like we don't sufficiently acknowledge how weird it is that some insects make themselves a little test tube and then dissolve into sludge and totally reform their bodies into a vastly different shape.

Is there anyone out there in the size 18 (and both sides) range who would like a box of women's clothes? I'll wash everything and make sure it's wearable. It's not all flash, mostly basics, but some of it is very nice and maybe you could use it.

Amber Craig Announces Candidacy for Greater Wellington Regional Council By-Election in Wairarapa General ConstituencyWAIRARAPA, New Zealand. June 10, 2026 - Amber Craig today announced her candidacy for the Greater Wellington Regional Council By-Election in the Wairarapa general constituency, bringing a strong background of community advocacy, technological innovation, and environmental consciousness to the race.
"I'm proud to put my name forward to represent Wairarapa at Greater Wellington," says Craig. "As a transparent, clear communicator and a strong advocate for our region, I will bring community stories into every decision I make. I believe in walking beside our diverse communities to enable them to thrive."

If you’re not going to bother copying and pasting the text you’ve decided to screenshot so you can add alt-text to the image before posting it, would you at least consider a link so I can go to the source to read it? Honestly feel like replying “that’s nice dear, but I have no idea what it says”. 👵🏻

Um, what has happened to alt text? I’m assuming this is an update that didn’t get an accessibility eye run over it first? Now both the text in the image and the alt text that is overlaid over it in a transparent text box are both too difficult for me to read. @bsky.app
A screen shot of an image of black text in a white background. The poster kindly added alt text, but instead of appearing below the image as it used to, it is now white text on a transparent grey overlay, which means the alt text is now also impossible to read, as there is not enough contrast, and the text from the image and the alt text are all visually tangled up.

Now I know I can, I have. If you call Aotearoa New Zealand home, will you please add your name to the claim too? Te Tititi o Waitangi is the reason Tangata Tiriti (non-Māori New Zealanders) can call this whenua home. We must uphold our side.

You know the really tricky thing about education is that everybody has some sort of opinion on it, but for most people it’s heavily influenced by their own experience of school, and what parts of that made THEM feel either successful or like they weren’t capable of achieving.

99% of the time I just swallow back the fact that surviving cancer that was trying very hard to get me before I noticed has left me in almost permanent pain, but today is one of those days that I am just utterly and completely over it. I suppose I should try taking something for it.

It has just occurred to me that ghost chips, puzzle time, thermonuclear pies, togs/undies transformation zone etc… they are the Gen X (and maybe millennials?) people of Aotearoa version of quoting Monty Python, aren’t they? I don’t know where to sit with this thought. (I’ve never watched MP).

I just got a text about my eye appointment next week. I have no memory of making an appointment. Did I make it at my last appointment (approximately a year ago when I had an inwards stye) or have they just proactively booked me in? Or has someone with a similar name booked in over the phone?

*Sigh* If you’re going to link your capitalist marketing to religious feasts, at least try and get the dates right? Just got an email about NW’s three day Easter sale, which is this weekend, which will be Western Palm Sunday. Eastern Easter isn’t until the 12th, so I guess it’s time to buy 🍫 🥚 .

I live in a pretty suburban environment, within walking distance to the CBD, but I grew up rural, and it still blows my mind that even where I live now, sometimes I hear the volunteer fire brigade siren. (It's a still night, I think it's coming from Wainuiomata.)
