You probably know me for my bird illustrations and sewing stuff, and maybe dinner, but on this profile I'm just me, for the social side. There's a business me too, if you know where to look. 🇳🇿Pākehā | She/her/they | cat person

But also: adequate staffing at hospitals and for district nurses; funding for GPs and hugely increasing capacity for specialist referrals; drug-funding: increased imaging and radiation treatment facilities. Most of what politicians promise is rearranging the furniture.

As a cancer survivor, I bitterly resent the catch all “cancer” being used as a political football. There many different diseases under the umbrella. If they really wanted to do something, it’d be early detection, prevention, and swift diagnostics. Remove MSD work requirements during treatment.

I have just been perusing the website and I can find neither eligibility criteria nor cost. Just that you fill in the form and it gets sent to your local association to follow up. Some of the discounts are decent though. Ferries and solar and electricity benefits amongst others… 🤔

I don’t think there is any harm in putting that out to him…

I didn’t know about this guy, but I do know that people can change. And sometimes people stop doing a job because they realise that they need a change. Which can lead to them working towards enabling wider change. But I’d need to know more about this person’s now before deciding for myself.

We have a couple of key takeaway points we work into the talks I do when volunteering: a) plant natives b) don’t weed/tidy too much - insects and mokomoko (lizards) like ground cover, leaf matter, sticks and stones as food and shelter.

I’ve never understood why it’s fallen out of practice here. I was very purposefully trained to keep left in crowds as a kid (Dunedin). Went to live in France for a bit, clocked I needed to change sides as soon as I got off my first Metro ride. Moved to Wellington, nobody respects keep left.

Do you happen to have a Mon Tricot stitch dictionary in there? I have one myself that I picked up recently, but I have a friend who is on the hunt for one. I’m personally on the lookout for Aran (esp for DK Yarn) or twin-set patterns.

I do the same and mostly they thank me and move on to the next number on the list. The one who notably didn’t (many years ago) caused me to lodge a complaint. But I also wouldn’t put it past the call centres to introduce a minimum time on call metric.

I’m not saying you are neurodiverse… but on the other hand I have a number of friends and family who never suspected it for themselves until they saw me get diagnosed. Some have gone on to get diagnosed themselves.

That's not my name @endoubleu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
See the thing about growing up neurodiverse is that a) it’s strongly genetic, and b) friends who get you are also likely neurodiverse, so to us the stuff that makes our lives more difficult because of cultural norms is just “normal”. And in certain settings, like education, can even be an advantage.

Also passing the care would also have also potentially meant putting another midwife at risk.

Wasn’t there a severe shortage of midwifery services in the area at the time? To continue working with the client despite the circumstances seems like going above and beyond in terms of professionalism. Did the client even know what the partner had done?

I can just about accept them done on the reformer, or plié lunges. And managing a few flying lunges/reindeer did feel like an achievement. But I very much dislike static and walking lunges.

If you see instances of them driving in an unsafe manner, use the online form to report it. It won’t tell you if they have a licence, but they get a letter saying they were observed doing [X], and I believe it goes on record.

I still haven’t picked the book up again for the reread. I did just start series 3. I think they might be interweaving Shift and Dust. (I have also read Sand, but didn’t enjoy it nearly as much.)

Oh well that makes more sense. Now I want to ask if the book you had to put down yesterday was volume 2 of Silo, because A) I had to halt my reread in 2016 around the time of a certain election, and; B) I did look back through your timeline a couple of days trying to figure out context.

This post is really only for me to let it out so I can move on and do something else with the rest of my day. But please. Whenever you’re driving, if you’re coming up to a bend, please slow down until you can see the road ahead clearly again.

I was going to have such a productive day but then I narrowly avoided an accident coming out of my own driveway earlier (luckily we both braked, I’m always really cautious exiting, our bend is deceptively blind). I’m back home from that errand, and still a bit shaken.

My flatmate in second year lost one of her friends at Cave Creek. I guess honesty in signage is a good thing.

Best wishes! My weird flex is assuming everyone who isn’t obviously under 35 is older than me. But then my mum confessed to me when she was 79 that she wasn’t a grown-up yet, so I’ve probably got a ways to go. 😆

More importantly, metal handles mean they can go in the dishwasher without it leaching stuff out of the handles. My lids mostly don’t get that hot unless I’m putting something in the oven. But I’d usually be using my cast iron or a brassier/casserole dish when I’m doing that.

First Christmases were very raw after I lost both of my parents. They both died in early November, 9 years apart.

Yeah, that’s a big part of the reason we have regular stay at home Xmases. At one point we were trying to fit 4-5 different family events in one day depending on who else was in town. But also, don’t underestimate the comfort factor of people who also loved your parents - just not on the 25th. 🫂

Every 2-3 years we do a just us Christmas where we stay in Wellington and don’t travel to where family are. This is one of those years. Going to the movies on Christmas Day is a lovely chill activity.

We have started being more proactive about visiting Aunties and Uncles. Not for the whole period, but an afternoon tea here, an overnight stay there. Often involves catching up with cousins as well, and it’s been really good reconnecting with the wider family.

I’m still sad that their third sibling went to Mastadon and not here (because I have known her IRL for a very long time, and I miss her in my feeds).
