Current baby development: We have been playing jazz music on the sound machine when he wakes up and we still need to finish something before grabbing him. “Thank you for calling Mom & Dad Inc. Your request is important to us. Your estimated wait time is approximately 7 minutes.”

I routinely get marketing emails from a "Jordan Person" but every single time I misread their name as Jordan Peterson and have just a split second heart attack going "WHAT? NO?!"

Prior to having a baby, I could on a general level clock if a baby born on a tv show or movie was too big to be a true newborn. Now that I have a baby, it's WAY more comical to see an oversized newborn, like WHAT?! No way that eight month old was just born. That mom would be SPLIT IN TWO NO WAY.

I get that there’s something genuinely rewarding about getting super into food and wine and noticing the subtle interplay of tastes and textures but there’s also something genuinely rewarding about getting fucked up at Olive Garden so there’s lots of beauty in the world if you are willing to look

Oh damn, the marketing campaign had me skeptical, but if Glen’s onboard I’ll give it a go!!

Which is to all day, six months in and it’s getting better? Sometimes? Maybe? This is probably the thing I was least prepared for, and it’s apparently super normal!! I especially love that I had to go back to my job only after three months, with the most Swiss cheese brain mode. Love it here.

Roughly six months into motherhood and I cannot stress enough, my brain is the equivalent of that SpongeBob episode where he forgot everything expect fine dining and breathing. Only for me it’s motherhood, and breathing. The amount of times in the earliest months I cried saying how dumb I felt 🫠

This is all to say, I wish them well. From what limited information they shared I imagine it must be a hectic time, but I would be fully lying if this doesn't make my inner gossip rear up terribly.

Oh no, the extremely niche lifestyle vlogger I follow is vague posting about a major and unexpected life update that surely is having a major impact to them and I keep fluctuating between weird parasocial thoughts, and mentally hitting myself with a water gun like "No! Bad! Let them LIVE!!"

Currently having a freak allergic reaction to, by my guess some new hair product, and my eyes have swollen up to crazy levels. Imagine a human Mr. Meaty character, that’s where I’m at right now.
An extremely offputting putting of a man, with red rings around his d his one visible eyes. He wears a yellow and brown polo shirt, and visor. He has thick flesh colored lips, and pale pimple pocked skin. He has swoopy yellow toned hair that covers one of his eyes, and flows slightly over the top of the visor.

Let's give it up for reinterpretation and remixes!!!! Who needs the original, when the Greeks already gave us version...3,334,946,996,858,771,664,478,585?

The Greek mythology nerd in me is really thrilled at the strong reception of The Odyssey, and how we might get other large-scale retellings. However, the bananapants negative reactions are beyond insufferable and I am sure will only become more upsetting/bizarre as the myths get stranger themselves.

Movie promoters trying to get me to excited for tentpole film by releasing the most bland trailer devoid of any plotline. Meanwhile, I pick out what movie I want to watch next by reading the plot summary from a Wikipedia article AS GOD INTENDED.

The Bear season 5 slaps exclusively because of how frustrating and how much failure and rumination on failure proceeded it. This payoff doesn't work without constant fuck ups and repeating the same broken cycle until finally it clicks, despite it all.

I think the director not reading the comic is A CHOICE that I am still strongly side eying, but the movie itself I think in terms of the writing is still a strong debut for Kara.

Are there things I wasn’t fond of? Sure. The Girl of Tomorrow comic being so great makes it nearly impossible not to have quibbles like “oh but they didn’t include that part…” or “they shouldn’t have changed this other thing…” but that doesn’t change that I enjoyed the movie.

If you’re declaring SUPERGIRL the end of superhero movies but let MORBIUS, VENOM 3, KRAVEN, THOR 4 and ANT-MAN 3 pass with a shrug, you are telling on yourself.

I certainly have my own expectations for the film given that I really enjoyed Girl of Tomorrow, and am a DC fan, but I'm not totally sure how to feel about the teeth gnashing at this movie and it's prospects for the DCU widely given how many mediocre male heroes we have regularly accepted before.

Emily Pilat @empilat.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
I get that Supergirl is coming up in a time of superhero fatigue, a poorly received DCEU prior, and on the heels of an incredibly successful and well liked Superman adaptation, that's not an easy needle to thread by any means.

While I haven't seen Supergirl, I've seen the Discourse, and it reminds me how much it seems like female superhero films and media must be PERFECT to be liked. Idk, maybe its only an okay movie, but I've seen countless okay male hero flicks, and don't remember this much finger wagging.

On the whole thought, some of the commentary works for me (White Christian Nationalist rage), and it’s a total page turner as you want to know how the hell did all this happen? But at the end of the day the premise that got me interested in reading the book falls flat, which is too bad.

Finished Yesteryear today and I keep bouncing back and forth on what I thought worked and what didn’t, and my biggest gripe right now is how I wish the 1800s time line was a lot more substantial? Like that should have fully leaned into some dark Little House on the Prairie nonsense.

Setting my lock screen that shifts on when I am at the office to a photo of my baby is big "DO IT FOR HER" from Simpsons vibes 🥲
A bulletin board reads "DO IT FOR HER" in bold black letters. This phrase is surrounded by pictures of a Maggie Simpson, a yellow hued baby with a red pacifier and blue clothing. In one prominent photo she is held by her father, Homer Simpson, a balding man in a white polo shirt. In this photo he shares a warm smile with Maggie.

Picture it: upper 80 degree overcast weather, driving on the highway with a FAT Limeade slush from Sonic, you have a happy baby in the backseat, “I’m Alright” by Kenny Loggins is blasting, and you are going home to make lemon poppyseed muffins.

Knowing baby was with Scott helps a lot, because Scott is a phenomenal dad. But also it makes me wish he had more support in terms of real paternity leave. We don’t give enough support to people with babies is what I’m saying.

Whole mixed bag of emotions on this. I’m really happy and grateful for the time I had off, wish I had a fuckton more PAID time. Also felt nice to just to be an adult, and focus on tasks that are not dictated by a tiny human learning how to be alive was also refreshing.
