Alright i’m gonna try to be more active but uni (especially anatomy class) is kicking my butt right now… We have an oral exam basically every other day and it’s just a lot of material, so I’m trying to stay away from my phone as much as possible. How are you if you see this? :)

What are you looking at?! Did you know that giraffe tongues typically get up to between 40 and 50cm? They use them to grab leaves and branches to munch on. #giraffe #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #nature #landscape 🌍

A juvenile giraffe looking at the camera with some very green hills and a blue sky in the back.

Working at the vet office can be so exhausting, because people are exhausting. The person sitting at reception or answering the phone isn’t responsible for whatever’s going on in your life… I get life is frustrating and you may be emotional but don’t yell at people who aren’t at fault at all.

Sunsets in South Africa are just special. When I volunteered in South Africa we had to get up early each morning to monitor the animals and one of the big upsides was that saw the sunrise every day. #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #nature #landscape #sunrise

Perhaps the most misunderstood animal in all of Africa. Spotted hyenas are very successful hunters and help clean the ecosystem they live in by eating carcasses and thereby reducing the spread of diseases. #spottedhyena #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #nature 🌍

Have you ever seen a baby hippo that thinks it’s a rhino? This is Charlie. He was raised in a rhino orphanage and then later released into the wild. Here’s the video of him in the orphanage: youtu.be/n0oJ86XXqms?... #hippo #wildlife #wildlifephotography #conservation #photography #nature

Encounters with Elephants should always happen on their terms. This is Apollo, my favorite desert elephant in Damaraland, Namibia. He’s a juvenile bull, that can be identified by his broken right tusk and the big cut in his right ear. #elephant #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #nature

does anyone have a camera recommendation that doesn’t cost an arm? i know they’re expensive and i’m willing to pay some money but not an endless amount, considering i’m still practicing and wouldn’t use half the functions. what’s most important to me is that’s it’s good for photographing wildlife!

Got a spontaneous message from work here back at home today asking if i could work some shifts this week, so i will be at the vets every day. Might share some pictures of that if it’s interesting to anyone :)

Look who’s all ears… The big ears on African wild dogs help dissipate excessive heat and cool their body down. The larger external part also functions as a funnel to collect sound for better hearing. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #nature #africanwilddog #southafrica 🌍

A bit of snack with your sand? Elephants will stand on their hind legs and repeatedly push trees to get fruit to fall down and in the desert that means they consume a fair amount of sand with their food. #elephant #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #nature #namibia 🌍

I thought I’d do an introduction post as it seems the way on here. I’m a professional photographer specializing in the ocean and the coast it carves. I’m lucky to be represented by some good galleries. I also teach workshops. I’ve been full-time for 9 years now - went fast!

Cheetah siblings tend to stay together until they reach full maturity. Even longer for brothers who sometimes only split up to mate and will come back together afterwards. Teamwork is makes for a more effective hunt. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation #cheetah 🌍

While no one is 100% sure why Zebra’s coats have stripes, it is thought to be for several reasons, including protection from flies. A study found that far fewer flies land on Zebras or horses with striped coats. #wildlife #photography #wildlifephotography #conservation #zebra 🌍

A black-backed jackal really showing off his pattern. You can see that his whole back is black. They can be hard to differentiate from the side-striped jackals, but i find that, and the form of their head is a pretty good indicator. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #conservation 🌍

A river delicately snaking in the Icelandic Highlands, fed by the last snow melting… That little spot light really caught my eye so I had to capture it. Captured from a bush plane. #bluesky #photography #scapes #landscape #aerial #art #nature
A river snaking along a lush valley in the Highlands of Iceland. The water comes from the last snow melting on the distant mountains. Overall ambiance is dark, and there is a light pit illuminating a small area just at the foot of the mountain.

2 white horses of Camargue proudly running in the marshes at sunset… The side light orange glow gives to the scene a painterly look, but that’s a single photo.

The percentage of giraffe twins is smal but not zero (1 out of 280,000). Now we aren’t sure if these were actually both her babies but there weren’t any other females in the immediate vicinity so it’s not unlikely. #giraffe #photography #wildlifephotography #wildlife #conservation #southafrica

White Rhino are semi-social creatures, often found in a small group - called “crash” - made up of females and calf’s, while bulls are mostly solitary. These two were looking at a lion close by and eventually chased him off. #rhino #lion #photography #wildlifephotography #wildlife #conservation
