Some really striking data on sentiment around AI -- women hate it so much. Men seem less bothered. www.axios.com/2026/10/08/a...

Women don't like AI. They have reasons
A new survey finds that women are far more negative about the new technology than men.

Has anyone looked at how much longer research papers, other essays, have gotten in the AI era? I'd bet there's a big jump post-ChatGPT. It's a vicous cycle of using AI to write longer things, which people use AI to read. We all get dumber. Glad to be somewhere with a bias toward fewer words.

This is the flip side of the trade deficit in goods that has certain policymakers worried. Basically >> U.S. consumers and companies pay dollars to import goods into the country. Foreigners use some of that money to invest in U.S. assets... market goes up

Foreign investors are loving the U.S. stock market
The flood of money counters a prevailing notion that the U.S. is losing ground with foreign investors.

I'd add that economic dislocation can ripple through politics and culture in ways that are massively dislocating — think about the China shock, the financial crisis, the great depression.. you dont need an "apocalypse" or Terminator scenario -- just for a lot of people to lose money and jobs

Do investors worry about AI killing everyone? Not especially. "They're not looking at, you know, does this company end civilization?" an analyst at S&P told me "That isn't necessarily a question that comes up in our meetings." www.axios.com/2026/09/10/a...

Also? It’s not the em dash that’s the AI tell. It’s the phrase “let that sit for a second.” That’s it. That’s the clue. That’s the slop. Leave the em dashes to the professionals.
