I have experienced this type of spin from WestJet several times now. More than once, flights have been cancelled or delayed due to "crew safety", something that WestJet claims is out of their control (so compensation is not required)...

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

Of course there is nothing wrong with this, but it is completely irrelevant. She died as an innocent woman murdered in cold blood in her own neighbourhood. There is nothing that could possibly be in her past that would justify the ICE agent's actions.

In a telephone interview this morning with The Atlantic, President Donald J. Trump issued a threat against Venezuela’s Interim President Delcy Rodríguez, saying that, “if she doesn’t do what’s right, she is going to pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro,” adding that he would not stand for Rodríguez’s “defiant rejection” of military intervention by the United States.

Additionally, during the interview, President Trump reaffirmed that Venezuela may not be the last country subject to American intervention, or even that it would remain isolated to Latin America, clearly stating, “We do need Greenland, absolutely,” while describing the island which is a part of Denmark, a close-ally and member of NATO, as “surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships.”
