Tory IHT cut could cost £11bn - almost twice the advertised price
Our modelling suggests Badenoch’s inheritance tax cut could cost £7.7bn-£10.9bn a year and shift £60bn-£110bn from savings and investments into housing.

Bangkok at breaking point as floods turn streets into stagnant lakes
With 40 dead and a disaster declared across all 50 city districts, experts warn extreme flooding will only worsen across south-east Asia Bangkok is used to absorbing the sudden afternoon downpours that inundate the city during the rainy season. Even streets in many central high-rise districts can briefly turn into rivers, with rats and cockroaches racing out of sewers and taking temporary refuge on trees and buildings as the subterranean world is flushed out. But every city has a breaking point, and this year rain fell so fast and so hard that whole neighbourhoods of the Thai capital have been transformed, not into rivers, but stagnant lakes. In parts of the city, roughly 300mm of rain – the equivalent of half a year of average rainfall in London – fell in about two days. Continue reading...

The quotes from me in the Newsweek article below are accurate, no complaints. However, this is what I actually said. www.newsweek.com/trump-wants-...
The impact would be disastrous – partly because it would be highly inflationary to have interest rates at 1% when inflation is over 3% and unemployment relatively low, but mostly because it would signal the end of Fed independence and that US monetary policy was being made not by central bankers/economists but by a senile and corrupt President. There would be a risk of serious market disruption, and probably a rise in long bond yields. Lots of losers, and no winners, except perhaps for some of Trump’s corrupt cronies.

Just in case anyone still had any questions, today Trump proved beyond all doubt that has absolutely no idea how the economy, trade, or finance work. It would be genuinely difficult to cram more falsehoods, backwards statements, and sheer gibberish into his statement.
Trump social media post declaring "Interest Rates in the United States should be 1%, or less, because we are the Best Credit in the World – BY FAR. Our Country is BOOMING with new Investment! If we stopped Trading with every country that we have a Deficit with, which is most of them, we would make, at least, 1.5 Trillion Dollars a year. The word ‘Deficit’ is nothing more than a fancy word for LOSS. We are ‘carrying’ almost every country in the World, and that cannot go on any longer.
