Autocracts, authoritarians, racists and religious fanatics have joined forces to kidnap the American government. All three branches of the US government now reflect their ideologies. This is an American nightmare.

It's time to study Marx to see what he got right and wrong. It's time to study Lenin to see what he did wrong and right.

Here's an interesting thought. If we worked for an economy that worked for everybody, it would better work for everyone. So why don't we? The only reasons to not do so are based on wanting others to not succeed. Not a very comfortable thought.

A more fitting name for the new Nazi-style "detention" camp in Florida? Alligator Auschwitz. Or perhaps Gator Gulag. Yeah. Times are that bad.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy. I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Birthright citizenship is a Constitutional RIGHT. Any attack on it is an attack on us all. This is an attempt by far-right justices to attack immigrant communities and remove protections from any American who questions Trump. Your rights are nonnegotiable. We can’t compromise on that basic fact.

So Trump has declared the Iran bombing to be a "victory". That's a sure sign it's a complete failure. Iran has a long memory and a penchant for revenge. And America is now directly in the line of fire.

Bomb Iran. Now there's a truly horrible idea. I fear the blow-back from this. Regime change? Have we learned nothing from every other time we've tried this? And all to keep people from noticing the Constitution being ignored. Ever wonder how Germany become Nazi? Just look around you.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

"To many holidays" on Juneteent. "Jose" Padilla the very next day. This is what blatant open racism sounds like. And so many Americans are happy about this. It makes me cringe to think about it. I thought America was so much better than this.

Racism is a core problem in the United States. It's why the electorate chose a lying felon over the smart black woman. It's why the Mexicans looking for work at the local Home Depot are being rounded up and deported. It's not about jobs or anything else. It's open rampant racism.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

It's hard to celebrate a "victory" when a federal court overturns some insane action the Trump administration is taking. They will just ignore it until it gets to the Supreme Court who may well allow it.

The last time the United States was as sharply divided as it is now was over the right to own other people as slaves. Now it's about what? Believing a lying, cheating, grifter is somehow good for America despite his deliberate repeated failure to uphold the US Constitution?

So he raised the tariffs, paused that raise, paused that pause, then paused that pause of the pause. And no-one knows if it'll be paused again (and if such a pause will be unpaused) or what happens when (or if) the pause whose pause was paused concludes.

Do you know why this matters? Because the right to suspend habeas corpus is in ARTICLE I, the part of the Constitution which provides powers to CONGRESS. That Lincoln suspended habeas corpus (and retroactively got Congress to agree) doesn't mean it's an inherent presidential power.

With a President actively defying the Constitution, a Congress controlled by a party completely complicit in allowing it and a Supreme Court actively avoiding any measures to address it, and we have a crisis in democracy unlikely to be solved by waiting for the midterm or presidential elections.
