Speaking personally, making position & amendment letters publicly available is a no-brainer. This should also include letters to the #CABudget committees, which don't use the portal. Position letters have never been a transparent element of the #CALeg process. The portal can actually change that.

The most terrifying (to put it mildly) article I've read in a long time, if not ever. This isn't just about what a nuclear-armed AI would do. AIs are showing a deep understanding of how to use deception, rationalization & game out ice cold strategy. From King's College London:

Shall we play a game?

Professor Kenneth Payne remarks on his latest study of LLMs navigating a nuclear simulation.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, and the opening scene always hits home - quite literally. Vast tracts of oil refineries dot the harbor communities of LA and western Long Beach. I can't help but think my home inspired this scene (minus the flying cars, of course). #environmentaljustice

Not going to lie - this is a particularly tough moment. And that's exactly the point - to wear us down so much that we give up and acquiesce to whatever comes. But too much is on the line - we can't give up. We can't acquiesce. We need to stand up!

#LosAngeles has the smoggiest air in the nation and is at the forefront of the climate crisis - drought, extreme heat & wildfires. We need local leaders to prioritize #climate & #cleanair, not cut them. And while we're at it, @mayor.lacity.gov, let's get serious about reducing port pollution!

Even if you don't live near the #CAwildfires, the air pollution affects everyone in what's already the smoggiest region in the country. Protect your #health by keeping an eye on local air quality. In addition to Air Now, the South Coast Air Quality Management District is a good source for info.
