It's a disaster. It's an absolutely appalling human disaster. What on earth will it take to change our sick, unwell, sociopathic, misanthropic media culture? It is very hard not to despair at this news. A good man. Hunted. Debased. And now lost to us. This is no democracy.

The evidence that we have already set off tipping points in Earth's frozen regions is gathering pace. Even 1.5 degrees is (therefore) likely to be too high. Concerned polar scientists want COP30 to take notice. We carry an article from them here. 👇

This article is more optimistic than the headline suggests. I think it is actually about the West's decision to hand the future economy to China and the East. The speed of the energy transition in China is good for the world and, geopolitically, bad for the West as it inexplicably relegates itself

24 July is #EarthOvershootDay. That means humanity has used up Earth’s yearly natural resources budget in just 7 months. In 2024, the date was 1 August. The date keeps creeping earlier—but the trend can be reversed: www.genevaenvironmentnetwork.org/resources/up...
This image illustrates Earth Overshoot Day using a visual metaphor: planet Earth hanging a “SORRY WE’RE CLOSED” sign in space. The message below reads, “We have exceeded our natural resource budget for 2025,” emphasizing the urgent need to live within ecological limits.

🤯 This! A rent hike is as good as an eviction for too many renters. Yesterday the Office for National Statistics published data that shows average private rents are up 7.5% in England compared to last year. The #RentersRightsBill must get increases under control by limiting in tenancy rent hikes.
A picture of an un-cooked chicken. Text reads 'Cost of items if they rose at the same rate as private rent since 1988. A chicken would cost £53.76'A picture of a bunch of 6 bananas, text reads '6 bananas would cost £12.96'A picture of a bottle of milk labelled 4 pints. text reads '4 pints of milk would cost £12.36'A graphic image with writing. The header reads 'These prices are rediculous' smaller text reads 'but that's how much they'd cost if other essentials had risen by as much as private rents have since 1988 (the last time renting saw major reform).

Rising rents are pushing people out of their homes.'

In big letters it then reads 'Sign our petition' followed by 'demand the government end unfair rent increases'
