The graph shows a peak rate of over 90% in the 1960s. It's cut to ~70% in the 70s and below 30% by the 80s. It increases to 39% in the 1990s and stays between 35 and 39% through today.

Two charts giving me nightmares

Federal Debt: Total Public Debt as Percent of Gross Domestic Product, from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

The graph shows a rate starting at 40% in the 1960s, dipping to the 30s in the 1970s, increasing to 65% by the 1990s, dipping again in 2000, then skyrocketing to over 100% after 2008 and to 130% in 2020. In 2025, it's about 120%.

Historical Chart (10 year Treasury Yields, 1962-2026) showing 3% in the 1960s, increasing to peak around 15% in the early 1980s, then steadily declining to below 2% around 2020 before jumping back to 4% by 2023 and continuing to climb past 5% today, rates not seen since 2007.

Yeah, there's generally no need to supplement omega 6 or 9 as it's very common in most foods. Omega 3s are a bit harder and so it's common to supplement, especially if you can't eat fish (I supplement it too!)

Saturated fats (especially trans fats, which come from artificially hydrogenated oils) are thought to increase cardiovascular risk so it's suggested you limit their consumption, whereas unsaturated fats are less of a public health concern. Plus, omega 3/6 fats are essential in the diet

Olive oil isn't considered a seed oil because it's pressed from the flesh of the fruit. Neither is coconut oil, but this is stupid because the flesh of the coconut is the endosperm (i.e. part of the seed!) Seed oils are perfectly fine to eat, I don't really understand the panic

Oils pressed from seeds (canola, sunflower, safflower, corn, soy, etc.), usually unsaturated fats The two main health concerns are contamination with the solvents used to extract the oils from the seeds (like hexane) and most (excluding canola) being high in omega 6s which can cause inflammation.

when my masc lesbian aunt died, women just kept coming, screaming, crying, and saying they were her wives. Eventually we just had to start telling them to join the others. They were all devastated to learn about each other. Except for one who came in, kissed her dead mouth and showed us all that they had matching tattoos. She actually won all the mourning wives over and they all agreed she was the wife. It was so weird.

Did not expect more than a few people to see this but yes it really happened, yes it was insane

There's a lot of confusion about what Covid-19 RNA in wastewater is telling us. Here's data from Biobot for the United States. Currently Covid-19 RNA concentrations are elevated *relative* to recently (a real "wave") but absolute levels are low compared to the height of the pandemic.

Oh, I've done this before. Not cold outreach but responded to a call for program committee members. I think it depends on context; I had been a talk reviewer for other conferences and a local conf I had never attended needed people so I volunteered. Was my first and only year attending!

it's so frustrating how generic levothyroxine gets recalled almost every year bc of incorrect dosage/label. and thyroids take long as hell to adjust and these are taken daily and often forever. one recall really messed me up for a year and now i pay extra for brand name synthroid lol pisses me off
