National Hurricane Center forecast cone for Tropical Depression Nine, issued Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The depression is located over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. The forecast track takes the system northeast across the Gulf, with strengthening to a hurricane possible before reaching the northern Gulf Coast near the Florida Panhandle Friday. The system is then forecast to move inland through the Southeast and toward the Ohio Valley over the weekend. The cone represents the probable path of the storm’s center and does not show the storm’s size.

Preliminary probability forecast for tropical-storm-force winds from Tropical Depression Nine through Sunday, October 11. The highest probabilities extend from the central Gulf of Mexico northeast toward the northern Gulf Coast, with the greatest chances offshore south of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
