Obviously I don't want the Dodgers to win, but then the Braves fans do that dumb chop and chant and I don't want them to win. So...go Brewers?

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

Yeah, it's funky. A couple of the places I've lived had frequent storms and/or not great electrical systems, so I've experienced stuff like that a few times. And I think there's new technology that can automatically detect issues and reroute power so fewer people are affected for shorter times

I’m not at all an expert in this but I would guess a transformer blew and power go rerouted.

This has long been one of the problems: a complete inability by so many Americans to think beyond their own borders. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Matthew Schmidt, an associate professor at the University of New Haven in Connecticut and a former instructor at the U.S. Army War College, said many Americans, including himself, are unaware of how Trump's words affect people in other nations.

"I don't think I have a visceral sense of what Canadians are feeling about the United States," Schmidt said. "We really don't have a sense of the impact of what the president is saying has on other places."

Thanks for putting into words what I've felt since, well, 2016, really. It's the worst of America...but it is America. That crap is a part of every country, but when you let it take the reins of power - TWICE! - there's a problem.

Donald Trump's "deal" with Belarus on potash was an obvious (and empty) bluff. And yet, Pierre Poilievre's MPs were more than willing to believe it -- and blame the federal government and a non-existent carbon tax instead. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/09/23/o...

That's a great way to describe how I felt, and I was never even a hockey player.
I assume many Canadians experienced something like the weird cocktail of emotions that buzzed through me that weekend. There was dread, to be sure, because whatever came next would not be good. But there was also a strange relief that bordered on elation: Someone was about to punch me in the face, and I was grinning at them with savage glee in my eyes.
Brightest, on top of it all, was the same feeling that had made me tear up every time I’d heard O Canada over the past 18 months: a patriotic pride so quietly fierce that it sneaked up on me with an almost physical presence.

Can someone explain to like I’m 5 if/how this would even be possible? How can one pay down a debt when they’re continuing to spend more than they take in? Is it because of different rates they can take advantage of?
