Could behavioral change interventions be more effective if they were more ambitious? Maybe. But, Kraft (2020) studied 747 educational interventions and found avg d = .16 Studies with n > 2000, d = .05. These are targeted, designed, effortful interventions. Change/learning is hard. That’s ok

Horrible take. As a postdoc at U of Toronto, we unionized. Before, some post docs got $70k/yr, some $20k/yr. After, $50k minimum. Profs thought it was ok to pay a PhD well below poverty rates; sure, you lack funds, but you still get the labour Can’t be a mentor and a master.

Meta settled a lawsuit on child safety, agreed to a fine, and to make changes to the platform. But won’t make those changes in Canada. Canada can’t regulate these changes because we agreed not to in CUSMA in 2018. Learn how we lost our digital sovereignty in this great podcast.

IMO many meta analyses of tech interventions might fail scrutiny. B/c tech introduces different pedagogy, as companies build teaching theories into products. This is not accounted for in control conditions. This is a critique of my field, not a defence of the original paper.
