Canada: today is recognized as a sombre day of reflection #TruthAndReconciliationDay is part of a healing process to recognize the many wrongs done to Indigenous peoples, w/ special focus on so-called "residential schools" where horrors were committed on Indigenous children Please take the time

My beloved Detroit Red Wings #lgrw (fan since I was 4 years old saw a Game at Olympia and Gordie Howe patted my head with his smelly glove) are close to losing a fan. A fail son owner appears to be taking the promising team down to the basement. Still time for redemption, but there is short leash.

Knowledge is NOT politically neutral. The scientific method is a tool for deriving knowledge. So why then, are we telling the arbiters of the scientific method and developers of knowledge to be politically neutral? Are scientists supposed to forsake knowledge for politics sake?

Good day. Did some solid work. Got a lovely massage. And restocked my wee bar (Imma 1-2 drink per week guy, but the variety is nice). Also, few things indicate that you mean business more than using a shopping cart at the liquor store.
The favorites in my mini bar. The other stuff is in a cupboard.

Ok. Watch on means that I am getting things done. Thinking cap means that I am going to attempt thinking. Not sure if combining them bodes well or is a “don’t cross the streams” situation. We will see.

It was suggested to me that Journal Clubs need to go extinct because they are easily replaced with AI summaries. I was apoplectic. This was at McGill University! Birthplace of journal club! May the vengeful ghost of William Osler haunt this person forever.

A rare day with no meetings on the agenda. Coffee, writing, reading, and maybe some thinking--could be a good day.

The weather is as good as it gets in Montreal. Sunny, dry, nice breeze, high of about 63F. Quality dog walkies and outdoor workout. Autumn is the best season here.

It's sorta fun to survive this part of cancer and return to work. A weird part of the recovery is that I have used up all of my effs. Let's tear this silliness down and build something better.

Getting back to my effective low energy/procrastination strategy: always have two important projects going on at once. When I avoid one project, I tend to drift to working on the other. Without the 2nd project, I tend to avoid the primary project and drift to Instagram or naps.

Kale should be served lightly sauteed with bacon. Or better yet, have bacon. Just remember that kale exists while happily eating bacon.

I met Storm Thurmond when he was about 95. His staff wheeled him in — we shook hands. They wheeled him out. My 1st thought—this is elder abuse. I think the same of what they are doing to Mitch McConnell.
