Thank you. Yeah - after posting, I realised that where I'm going to hang it is never going to be in direct sunlight. In the few hours that that room gets any sun, it's on the opposite wall.

We created gyms because modern day work no
longer required physical activity. Without exercise,
our muscles atrophy.
I predict we'll need gyms for our brains too, once Al
starts doing our knowledge work.

I took it down to Greenhill Galleries just after posting that, but he's on holiday this week. Next week, then!

This is the photo I want to frame. I love it (partly 'cause I made it). I don't know why I haven't had it on display before.
Cyanotype made from a photograph of the gala pool at Moseley Road Baths, taken by me in August 2009

Years ago I printed a cyanotype, which I'd now like to frame. Does anyone actually _know_ (I've already googled) about cyanotypes and have framing/displaying tips? I understand that exposing it to light might make it fade but that can be reversed by storing it in darkness for a while! Pic to follow

I agree; it felt like they'd tried to recreate it for normies. Guess I'm very biased though.

I'm looking for furniture for my office but it seems that "vintage" these days ONLY means mid century modern. No, I don't want a sleek G Plan sideboard! Where my fussy gothic Victorian cabinets at?!

Have you seen the set? I've only seen trailer type clips which look like they were filmed in the Lucky Saint in Marylebone. He has said the show will be filmed in East London.

Yeah, it hadn't occurred to me that it must have been a pain to persuade celebrity guests to pop up to Digbeth for a 5 minute chat.

I put this on Reddit and have been accused of complaining. So I just want to add that I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised. Joe Lycett's a good man and he's done loads for Birmingham. Asking this question isn't meant to diminish him or his work in any way! People are strange.

Emma Wright @editorialgirl.co.uk · 03/09/2026
Yeah, same. It's odd not to even mention it. It's none of my business but I'm so curious about the reasoning.

Emma Wright @editorialgirl.co.uk · 03/09/2026
Can we talk about the fact that Joe Lycett has gone from championing Birmingham - insisting his Friday night show must be made here, and offering paid apprenticeships to local people - to just... Making it in London and not mentioning Birmingham at all? What happened?

Sometimes when a post gets a very "Bluesky" response - as this one rightly has - I go to Twitter and Facebook to see what people outside of my bubble think. But I'll never know, because this seems to be the only channel where the Mayor's account doesn't limit replies. 🤔

To answer my own question: the ASL Group website says this plane is "primarily used for TV & Radio relay flights". So it's acting as a receiver and transmitter, not a camera.

Emma Wright @editorialgirl.co.uk · 16/08/2026
I presume this plane is filming for the athletics (and probably not going to Antwerp), but how much will it really see from 28,000 feet?

I thought about it as I was writing the post and... yeah, cba 🫠 But it did make me remember how much of a pain it is to write something like that. No laws have changed and it's not illegal to do any of it - it's just "advice". So they probably have to say, eg, "you should not" rather than "do not".

Someone else posted that they're still using their garden firepit because they're very experienced and know the risks. Aye right.

Emma Wright @editorialgirl.co.uk · 15/08/2026
I think I need to stop reading about other people. The stupidity is relentless. Under stories about people losing their homes in fires, there are multiple people arguing that "it was a disposable barbecue - nothing to do with so-called climate change!"

What's the average reading age here? 10? Yeah, half the population did not read all that guff. (Nationally what? Landowners who?) I just hate noise so I'd already turned it off before I took in any of what it was saying.

Emma Wright @editorialgirl.co.uk · 14/08/2026
Obvs I'm biased but blimey. The gov's emergency alert team needs a copywriter. Way too much text! Break it up! You need a 1-2 word headline (Wildfires!), then an obvious call to action ("do not use..."). THEN you can go into the whole "even a small flame" thing.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.
